IIM Mumbai Rankings
IIM Mumbai is ranked #6 in Management by NIRF 2025 with a score of 77.58, placing it among the top-tier IIMs in the country. This ranking reflects strong outcomes on research, teaching, graduation quality, outreach, and perceptual indicators.
| Ranking Body | Category | 2025 Rank |
|---|---|---|
| NIRF | Management | 6 (Score: 77.58) |
The NIRF rank of 6 places IIM Mumbai ahead of most newer IIMs in management and reflects the institutional credibility inherited from NITIE’s long NIRF participation history. As a relatively recently designated IIM, the ranking trajectory is expected to strengthen as the institute builds on its MBA programme and research output.
IIM Mumbai Scholarships and Financial Aid
IIM Mumbai does not offer category-based fee concessions on MBA programme fees. Financial support is need-based, and the institution facilitates education loan access through banking partnerships to help students finance the INR 25,50,000 MBA programme.

IIM Mumbai Campus and Infrastructure
IIM Mumbai occupies the former NITIE campus in Powai, Mumbai, a residential campus surrounded by the Eastern Express Highway, Vihar Lake, and IIT Bombay. The location places students in one of India’s most active business and technology clusters, with easy access to BFSI institutions in the Bandra-Kurla Complex and technology campuses in Powai and Andheri.
The campus is residential, with hostel and mess costs bundled into the MBA programme fee. Academic facilities include the NITIE-legacy industrial engineering labs, management classrooms, a well-stocked library with digital access, auditorium, sports facilities, and a student activity centre. The campus’s lakeside setting distinguishes it from most urban B-school campuses. Wi-Fi connectivity and computing infrastructure are available across the campus.
IIM Mumbai vs IIM Kozhikode vs SPJIMR
Aspirants with competitive CAT scores who are considering IIM Mumbai also frequently evaluate IIM Kozhikode (another NIRF top-10 management institute) and SPJIMR Mumbai (a top-ranked autonomous B-school in the same city). The comparison axes differ by what the aspirant values: NIRF standing, city, programme specialisation, or fee level.
| Parameter | IIM Mumbai | IIM Kozhikode | SPJIMR Mumbai |
|---|---|---|---|
| NIRF Rank (Management 2025) | 6 | 5 | Check official site |
| Location | Powai, Mumbai | Kozhikode, Kerala | Andheri, Mumbai |
| MBA Total Fees | INR 25,50,000 | INR 19,00,000 to 24,00,000 (est.) | INR 22,00,000 to 25,00,000 (est.) |
| Admission Exam | CAT only | CAT only | CAT and XAT |
| IIM CAP Participation | No (independent) | Yes | Not applicable |
| Programme Specialisation | General Management, Operations and SC, Sustainability | General Management | General Management |
| Institute Type | IIM (Institute of National Importance) | IIM (Institute of National Importance) | Autonomous B-school (deemed university) |
IIM Kozhikode holds a marginally higher NIRF rank (5 vs 6) and is established since 1996, giving it a longer alumni and recruiter network. IIM Mumbai’s Mumbai advantage is significant for BFSI and Operations sector placements. SPJIMR is in the same city and strong in general management, but as an autonomous institute it does not carry the IIM designation. Aspirants who want an IIM brand in Mumbai should choose IIM Mumbai. Aspirants prioritising the legacy IIM network over Mumbai location should consider IIM Kozhikode or IIM Indore at similar NIRF tiers.
