Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore was established in the year 1950 and has earned a good reputation for its research work. The institute has played an important role in areas of human resource development and R&D partnerships by having international linkages with institutions such as the Institute of Food Technologists (USA), UN University (Tokyo), European Economic Commission (Belgium), National Science Foundation (USA) and much more. It has large laboratory headed by Ram Rajashekaran.
Till date, CFTRI has designed over 300 products, processes, and equipment types. The institute offers Master of Science (Food Technology). It is an ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 and is NABL accredited.
