FMS Delhi MBA Admission Dates 2027

FMS Delhi admission for the 2027-29 MBA batch follows the same cycle structure as prior years: application before CAT result, shortlist in March, interviews in April, and batch start in July 2027. Dates below are based on the official 2026-28 cycle pattern and confirmed 2026 CAT dates. Official FMS 2027-29 dates will be announced at fms.edu.

Activity Date (2027-29 Cycle)
CAT 2026 Registration August 3 to September 15, 2026
CAT 2026 Admit Card November 4, 2026
CAT 2026 Exam November 29, 2026
FMS Delhi Application Form Opens October 26, 2026 (Tentative)
FMS Delhi Application Form Last Date November 27, 2026 (Tentative)
CAT 2026 Result December 24, 2026 (Tentative)
FMS Delhi Shortlist (based on prior cycle) March 2027 (Tentative)
PI and SOP Round (based on prior cycle) April 2027 (Tentative)
Final Merit List and Admission May to June 2027 (Tentative)

As per a Quora discussion on FMS admission strategy, candidates advised treating the FMS application as a standalone preparation objective and not as a byproduct of IIM applications. The SOP discussion at FMS directly tests whether the candidate has researched the programme and can connect it to personal goals. Candidates who prepared a generic SOP for all B-schools found the FMS PI panel probing it harder than at other schools.

FMS Delhi MBA Eligibility Criteria 2027

FMS Delhi admission is open to any bachelor’s degree holder from a recognised university with at least 12 years of formal schooling. There is no work experience requirement. Final-year students can apply provisionally.

General / Unreserved 50% aggregate in bachelor’s degree Valid CAT 2026 score (mandatory). No substitute exam accepted for Indian applicants.
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, PwD, CW (Kashmiri Migrant) 45% aggregate in bachelor’s degree Valid CAT 2026 score. Relevant category certificate required at the time of form submission.

The fees mentioned above are subject to revision and have been included for reference. Contact FMS or visit fms.edu for exact fee details.

Note: FMS Delhi application must be submitted separately from the CAT registration. Registering for CAT at iimcat.ac.in does not automatically register the candidate for FMS. The FMS form at fms.edu must be filled independently, typically before or shortly after the CAT exam.

FMS Delhi MBA Selection Criteria 2027

FMS selection runs in two stages: a composite-score-based shortlist for PI, followed by a final merit list that includes the PI score. The process is distinctive among top B-schools because FMS uses its own composite score formula on CAT sectional marks — not the overall CAT percentile — as the primary shortlisting metric.

Stage 1: Shortlisting for PI

FMS calculates a composite score from CAT sectional marks using the following formula:

  • VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension): 40% weight
  • DILR (Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning): 30% weight
  • QA (Quantitative Ability): 30% weight
  • Female candidate bonus: Additional 5 marks added to composite score before rank-wise shortlisting

For the 2026-28 batch, the category-wise composite score cutoffs for shortlisting were:

Category CAT Percentile Floor Minimum Sectional (All Sections)
General 99 plus percentile 50th percentile in each of VARC, DILR, QA
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and EWS 91 plus percentile 50th percentile in each section
SC 75 plus percentile 50th percentile in each section
ST 60 plus percentile 50th percentile in each section

For the 2026-28 batch, FMS Delhi shortlisted 2,023 candidates for the Personal Interview stage across all categories, competing for 289 seats.

Stage 2: Final Merit List

Final selection weightage at FMS Delhi:

Component Weightage
CAT 2026 Score (FMS composite formula) 50%
Personal Interview (PI) 15%
SOP (Statement of Purpose) Discussion 10%
Class 10 Academic Score 10%
Class 12 Academic Score 10%
Extempore 5%

FMS does not conduct Group Discussion (GD). The interview process includes three rounds: SOP discussion, extempore, and a personal interview panel of 20 to 30 minutes.

How to Apply for FMS Delhi MBA 2027

  • Step 1: Register for CAT 2026 at iimcat.ac.in between August 3 and September 15, 2026. Appear for the exam on November 29, 2026.
  • Step 2: Separately apply to FMS Delhi at fms.edu. Application form expected from October 26 to November 27, 2026. This must be done independently — CAT registration does not cover FMS.
  • Step 3: Pay the application fee: INR 1,000 (General/OBC-NCL/EWS) or INR 350 (SC/ST/PwD/CW).
  • Step 4: Upload required documents: graduation certificate, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, category certificate (if applicable).
  • Step 5: Check the shortlist on the FMS website in March 2027. Shortlisted candidates receive PI call letters for the SOP, extempore, and PI rounds in April 2027.
  • Step 6: Attend all three stages (SOP discussion, extempore, PI) at the FMS Delhi campus in North Delhi. Accept the offer and pay fees within the stated deadline.

FMS Delhi MBA vs IIM Bangalore vs IIM Calcutta

FMS Delhi, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta are three of India’s most competitive MBA programmes. All use CAT as the primary admission filter. Key differences lie in the selection process, fee, and seat count.

Particulars FMS Delhi IIM Bangalore IIM Calcutta
Entrance Exam CAT only CAT only CAT only
Total Seats (2027-29 Batch) 289 512 (PGP) 480 (approx.)

Note: FMS Delhi gives substantially more weight to Class 10 and 12 academic records in the final merit list compared to IIM Bangalore or IIM Calcutta, where academic scores are primarily used for shortlisting filters. FMS’s total fee is over 90% lower than IIM Bangalore’s, making it the highest-ROI MBA option in this peer group.

FMS Delhi Scholarships 2027

FMS Delhi MBA students can access scholarships from University of Delhi-level and central government sources. The low programme fee itself functions as a structural subsidy for all admitted students.

  • University of Delhi SC/ST Scholarship: DU provides additional fee waivers and cash support for SC/ST students. Apply through the DU scholarship portal after admission is confirmed at FMS.
  • National Scholarship Portal (NSP): Post-Matric Scholarship for SC students (family income below INR 2.5 lakh) and for OBC students (income below INR 1 lakh). Apply at scholarships.gov.in within the NSP application window after admissions close.
  • PM-VIDYALAXMI Scheme: Collateral-free education loans for students admitted to NIRF-ranked institutions. FMS Delhi’s NIRF rank 7 makes all FMS students eligible to apply. Apply at vidyalaxmi.co.in. Note that the low fee at FMS means the loan quantum required is minimal compared to peer schools.
  • University of Delhi PwD Concession: PwD students at DU institutions receive additional fee concession and are eligible for accommodation support. Contact the DU Dean of Students’ Welfare office for current eligibility and amounts.

FMS Delhi Admission FAQs

Ques. Does FMS Delhi accept any exam other than CAT?

Ans. No. FMS Delhi accepts only CAT for Indian applicants. GMAT is accepted for NRI/Foreign applicants only. Candidates with NMAT, XAT, MAT, SNAP, or CMAT scores cannot apply for the FMS MBA. A valid CAT 2026 score is mandatory for the 2027-29 batch. Register for CAT 2026 at iimcat.ac.in by September 15, 2026.

Ques. What CAT percentile do I need for FMS Delhi?

Ans. Based on the 2026-28 batch shortlist, the General category cutoff was 99 plus overall percentile with a minimum of 50th percentile in each section (VARC, DILR, QA). FMS uses its own composite score (40% VARC + 30% DILR + 30% QA in terms of sectional marks) rather than overall CAT percentile. Candidates with a sectional imbalance — very high overall but one weak section — often fail the sectional minimum despite crossing 99 percentile overall.

Ques. How many candidates were shortlisted at FMS Delhi for the 2026-28 batch?

Ans. FMS Delhi shortlisted 2,023 candidates across all categories for the Personal Interview round for the 2026-28 batch. With 289 MBA seats, the shortlist-to-seat ratio was approximately 7:1. This is lower than most IIMs but competition within the PI round is intense. Female candidates receive an additional 5 marks in the composite score at the shortlisting stage.

Ques. What is the FMS Delhi selection process after CAT shortlisting?

Ans. FMS Delhi conducts three rounds for shortlisted candidates at its Delhi campus: Statement of Purpose (SOP) discussion, extempore, and a 20 to 30 minute Personal Interview. There is no Group Discussion at FMS. Final merit list weightage: 50% CAT, 15% PI, 10% SOP discussion, 10% Class 10 marks, 10% Class 12 marks, 5% extempore.

Ques. What is the total fee for FMS Delhi MBA?

Ans. The total 2-year MBA fee at FMS Delhi was INR 2,43,272 for the 2026-28 batch (paid in 4 semester instalments of INR 60,818 each). This is among the lowest total fees for a NIRF Top-10 management programme in India. The fee is set by University of Delhi and is subject to revision for the 2027-29 batch. Confirm the exact fee at fms.edu before applying.

Ques. Does FMS Delhi consider work experience for admission?

Ans. No. Work experience is not a mandatory criterion for FMS Delhi MBA admission and is not scored in the current selection weightage formula. The final merit list is based on CAT score (50%), PI (15%), SOP discussion (10%), extempore (5%), Class 10 marks (10%), and Class 12 marks (10%). Freshers and experienced candidates compete on equal terms in this formula.

Ques. When does the FMS Delhi application form for the 2027-29 batch open?

Ans. The FMS Delhi application form for the 2027-29 batch is expected to open around October 26, 2026 (Tentative). The expected last date is November 27, 2026. The form is available at fms.edu. Candidates must apply separately at FMS — the CAT registration does not automatically submit an FMS application. Watch fms.edu and admissions@fms.edu for the official notification.

Ques. Is there any sectional cutoff for FMS Delhi?

Ans. Yes. FMS requires a minimum 50th percentile in each of the three CAT sections — VARC, DILR, and QA — to be eligible for shortlisting. Meeting the overall percentile threshold alone is not enough if any one section is below 50th percentile. The VARC section carries 40% weight in the FMS composite score formula versus 30% each for DILR and QA.

Ques. What is the FMS Delhi MBA fee compared to IIM Bangalore?

Ans. FMS Delhi charges a total of approximately INR 2.43 lakh for the 2-year MBA (2026-28 batch). IIM Bangalore charges approximately INR 23 lakh plus for its PGP 2-year programme. Both schools require 99 plus CAT percentile for General category candidates. FMS’s fee is more than 90% lower while its NIRF Management rank (7) places it in the same top tier as IIM Bangalore (rank 2) in India’s management education landscape.

Ques. Can a final-year graduation student apply for FMS Delhi?

Ans. Yes. Final-year graduation students can apply provisionally to FMS Delhi. The provisional admission is cancelled if the candidate fails to meet the minimum 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories) in graduation when the final result is declared. An undertaking to this effect must be submitted at the time of form submission and at admission confirmation.

How do admissions happen in FMS Delhi in the CW category?

Admission chances depend on entrance exam scores, category reservation, state quota, and annual competition levels.

Assessment factors:

  • Previous Cutoff Trends: Analyze last 3 years' data for your category and branch.
  • Category Reservation: Cutoffs vary significantly across General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS.
  • State Quota Benefits: Home state candidates often have 10-20 percentile lower cutoffs.
  • Branch Popularity: CSE and ECE have higher cutoffs than mechanical or civil.

What's the process for getting into FMS Delhi?

Jasmine Grover
Mansi Jain

Candidates are shortlisted based on a weighted score. This score is calculated by combining the percentiles from all three sections of the CAT exam (VARC, DILR, and QA) with differential weightage (40% 30% 30% respectively). Additionally, your marks from Class X and XII are considered (10% weightage each), with a bonus for scoring above 75% (10 points) or between 60-74% (5 points).

There's also an encouraging diversity factor: women candidates receive an additional 5 points for shortlisting purposes only. If you make the cut-off for this shortlist, you'll be invited for a Personal Interview (PI) where your performance will be evaluated alongside your weighted CAT score, academic marks, and a discussion on your Statement of Purpose (SOP). The weightage for final selection breaks down as follows: 50% for the weighted CAT score, 10% each for Class X and XII marks, 10% for the SOP discussion, 5% for Extempore and 15% for your performance in the PI.

Can I get a call from IIM ABC or FMS Delhi with 98 percentile, having 74/94/79 in 10, 12, and graduation commerce background with OBC category?

Himani Daryani
Tithi AggrawalLives in New Delhi

Due to your below-average 10th score and the fact that you do not have any relevant work experience, you might face some difficulty but there is a possibility that these universities will contact you for an interview; nevertheless, this is not a given. Never give up on your hopes and faith. CAT percentile, academic background, work experience, extracurricular activities, and other variables influence whether IIM ABC or FMS Delhi calls you. Despite a 98 percentile CAT score, elite B-schools may not call.

These institutes weigh diversity and academic diversity in their selection process, so your academic background and OBC status may help you. These institutes' cut-offs may change year to year depending on candidates' CAT scores.

However, with a 98 percentile CAT score, you may receive calls from top B-schools. To improve your chances of selection, focus on your entire profile—academics, work, and extracurriculars. All the best buddy!

Which B-school is harder to get into when you have a 'mediocre' academic profile and 1 yr of work experience, FMS Delhi or IIM K, L, and I?

Akriti Guptalives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Among the above B-schools, FMS will be easier to enter because other IIMs like IIM K, IIM L, and IIM I give more weightage to past academic performance. FMS selection will be based on Personal Interviews, Group Discussions, and CAT scores.

IIM K gives 40% weightage while the initial shortlisting of candidates for Personal Interviews is contrary to IIM L and IIM Indore which gives only 20% weightage. IIM Indore gives no weightage to work experience where IIM K gives only 5% and IIM L gives 10% weightage.

All in all, if you are a mediocre student then you have to outperform others in terms of CAT score and PI/GD performance. Indore is home for freshers and competing here will be difficult but you should focus more on FMS then IIM L and then IIM K for your shortlisting and put your best foot forward and convert your calls.

All the best and Best of luck for your D-day.

Are less than 60 btech graduates given admission in FMS Delhi,XLRI.XIM and JBIMS Mumbai?

Akriti Banerjeelives in New Delhi

FMS Delhi, XLRI, XIMB, and JBIMS are all highly regarded B-schools in India that offer postgraduate management programs. As these programs are PG courses so they require candidates to have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university.

The number of seats and admission criteria for these programs may vary from year to year and depend on factors such as the number of applicants, the performance of the applicants in entrance exams, and the selection process of each institution. Below is a table of batch sizes of all these colleges;

Institution

Program

Approximate Batch Size

FMS Delhi

MBA

200

XLRI

PGDM

360

XIMB

MBA

360

JBIMS Mumbai

MMS

120

Although all these institutes try to keep the batch as diverse as possible still the ratio of B.Tech and non-B.Tech is highly skewed towards B.Tech. So, it is unlikely that less than 60 B.Tech graduates are admitted to these institutions. These institutions typically have a rigorous selection process, and the number of seats available is usually limited.

However, the exact number of B.Tech graduates admitted to these institutions may vary depending on the specific program and admission cycle.

I scored 54% in Class 12. Will I be eligible to pursue MBA in IIM, FMS, TAPMI?

Namrata Das
Sanjukta SarkarStudied at PGDM from Indian Institutes of Management (2016)

Yes, with a 54% in class 12th, you are eligible to pursue MBA in IIMs, FMS, and TAPMI. The eligibility criteria are more than 50% in 12th for most MBA exams. However, there are certain weights assigned to the 10th, 12th, and graduation marks in IIMs. Overall, your score should be more than the cutoff of that year. You need to build your profile and get an exceptional percentile in CAT. The same goes for FMS and TAPMI.

Considering my credentials, can I get a call from any of these colleges, IIMs, FMS, XLRI or NMIMS, MICA, TAPMI, or SIBM?

Advait JoshiLives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Colleges may call depending on numerous variables. IIMs rarely call candidates without a 95+ percentile. IIMs exclusively accept top academic and overall candidates. Other colleges like FMS, XL, SPJIMR, and MDI assess the candidate's whole profile, giving them a little edge. These institutions consider work experience, extracurriculars, and leadership skills in addition to academic performance.

Even after being accepted to a top college, a candidate's academic performance may affect their placements, which could damage their job chances. The only thing candidates can control is their CAT/XAT score. So they should try their best and then decide.

FMS Delhi goes beyond just leadership titles. They value well-rounded applicants with extracurriculars that demonstrate initiative, problem-solving, and a passion apart from academics. This could be leading a club project, participating in case-study competitions, or even creative interests like marketing, designing or even photography.
