The lateral entry marks bar is the stricter of the two. A diploma holder needs 60 percent against the 50 percent asked of a Class 12 applicant, and that 60 percent must come from a single sitting rather than a best of several attempts.

These are the published eligibility bars, not final cutoff scores. The last disclosed intake year shows why a rank cutoff would mean little here. B.Tech Civil Engineering admitted 4 candidates against 60 sanctioned seats in 2023-24. B.Tech Mechanical Engineering admitted 4 against 30 seats. Computer Science and Engineering was the only branch to fill more than half its intake, at 62 admissions against 120 seats.
A candidate who meets the eligibility bar and reports on time is therefore unlikely to lose a seat to competition in the smaller branches. The computing branches close faster, and a late applicant to those four specialisations can find the branch full before the spot round.

GRD Uttarakhand University UG Admission (Non-Engineering)
Ten undergraduate programs outside engineering run across the schools of management, law, pharmacy, hospitality, modern media and smart agriculture. Most of them admit on Class 12 marks with no entrance test at all.
The largest non-engineering intake belongs to BBA, at 180 sanctioned seats. It admits Class 12 candidates from any stream, which makes it the widest door into the campus.
The computing route outside B.Tech is BCA, with 120 sanctioned seats. Mathematics at Class 12 is compulsory for it, and that is the one subject condition a commerce or arts applicant tends to miss.
Commerce applicants take B.Com (Hons), which accepts any Class 12 stream at 45 percent. The law school runs a five year BBA LLB and a three year LLB, and BBA LLB is the only program at the institute with a stated upper age limit.

LLB carries no upper age limit, in line with the current Bar Council of India position, so a working graduate can still enrol. B.Pharm also offers lateral entry into the second year for a D.Pharm holder from a Pharmacy Council of India recognised institution at 50 percent.
Nursing and Paramedical Admission
Nursing and allied health degrees at the institute are awarded through Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University. That university holds a state entrance examination for nursing and paramedical courses and runs the centralised counselling that follows it.
An entrance test and a personal interview are compulsory for B.Sc Nursing. It is the one program at the institute where merit alone does not secure a seat.
