HIT Dehradun Admission Dates 2026

HIT Dehradun admitted students for the 2026-27 academic session through an online application process. All 2026-27 applications closed on May 31, 2026. The academic session commenced in June/July 2026 and is currently underway. MBA admission required national entrance scores (CAT, MAT, GMAT, or GRE) followed by an interview.

The table below shows the entrance exam requirements for each programme family at HIT Dehradun. No national entrance exam is required for UG programmes. MBA, by contrast, requires a valid management test score and a personal interview.

HIT Dehradun Courses and Fees

HIT Dehradun offers nine programmes across hospitality, computing, commerce, management, education, and agricultural sciences. The BHM is the flagship programme and gives the institute its strongest recognition in national hospitality rankings.

The BHM programme is four years and covers food and beverage management, front office operations, housekeeping, and hospitality marketing. Affiliated to HNBGU, the BHM draws from Dehradun’s hospitality industry ecosystem and proximity to hill tourism circuits. The B.Sc Agriculture and B.Sc Forestry programmes are affiliated under HNBGU’s agricultural science faculty and are relevant for students targeting government agricultural services in Uttarakhand.

HIT Dehradun Admission Process

All admissions at HIT Dehradun are conducted online. Applications are submitted at the institute’s website, with physical document verification at the campus after preliminary selection. For the 2026-27 cycle, applications closed on May 31, 2026.

UG Programme Admission (BHM, BBA, BCA, B.Sc IT, B.Com, B.Sc Hons)

Eligibility requires passing Class 12 from a recognised board. Minimum marks are 45 to 50% depending on the programme. No entrance examination is required. Selection is on Class 12 aggregate merit. Candidates complete online registration, upload documents, and pay the INR 500 application fee. Final admission is confirmed after document verification at the institute and fee payment.

MBA Admission

MBA eligibility requires a graduation degree in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates must submit a valid score from CAT, MAT, GMAT, or GRE. Shortlisted candidates are called for a Personal Interview at HIT Dehradun. Final selection weighs entrance score, graduation marks, and PI performance. Application fee for PG programmes is INR 1,000.

M.Sc Admission

M.Sc programmes require a relevant B.Sc degree with minimum qualifying marks as prescribed by HNBGU. Admission is merit-based on graduation marks through direct application to the institute. No separate entrance examination is conducted for M.Sc admission at HIT Dehradun.

HIT Dehradun Placements

HIT Dehradun reports a placement rate of 86% across all programmes. The highest offer reported is INR 26.4 LPA. Core campus recruiters include Amazon, Wipro, Infosys, Coca-Cola, ICICI Bank, Nestlé, and Tata Steel.

Hospitality graduates from the BHM programme are recruited by hotel chains and food and beverage companies including those with Coca-Cola and Nestlé networks. IT and commerce graduates are hired by Wipro, Infosys, Amazon, and ICICI Bank. Agriculture and Forestry graduates primarily pursue government services through state agricultural departments and the Uttarakhand Forest Department.

HIT Dehradun Rankings

HIT Dehradun is recognised by India Today and The Week for its hotel management and commerce programmes. The institute is particularly strong in Uttarakhand-level rankings, where it holds the top position for Commerce in The Week 2025.

HIT Dehradun does not appear in NIRF rankings. Within Uttarakhand, it stands as the top commerce college and second-ranked hotel management institution per The Week 2025. Its India Today hotel management ranking of #17 nationally positions it among the more prominent hospitality colleges outside of government-run IHMs.

HIT Dehradun Scholarships

HIT Dehradun offers percentage-based fee reductions across multiple categories. Scholarships are applied as fee concessions at the time of admission and renewed on the basis of academic performance at the end of each year.

Students from Uttarakhand may also apply for state government scholarship schemes through the Uttarakhand Scholarship Portal. Central government schemes such as the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) apply to SC, ST, OBC, and minority category students who meet the income criteria.

HIT Dehradun Campus and Infrastructure

HIT Dehradun operates from a 10-plus acre campus in Dehradun city. The campus is Wi-Fi-enabled throughout and designed for multi-disciplinary academic activity across engineering, hospitality, commerce, and agricultural sciences.

Academic facilities include smart classrooms, specialised science and computer labs, a central library with print and digital collections, a media and communication lab for BHM students, and dedicated food production and kitchen labs for the hotel management programme. Sports infrastructure covers outdoor and indoor courts. A cafeteria, medical room, and banking facilities are available on campus.

Hostel accommodation is available separately for boys and girls. Annual hostel fees are INR 1.08 Lakhs for triple sharing and INR 1.20 Lakhs for double sharing. Meals are served in the hostel mess. Dehradun’s well-connected road network gives students access to markets, coaching institutes, and local tourism employment during holiday periods.

HIT Dehradun vs Dev Bhoomi University vs Uttaranchal University

Students in the Dehradun region evaluating private multi-discipline colleges often compare HIT Dehradun with Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University and Uttaranchal University. All three are private institutions in Dehradun or its vicinity catering to similar streams including management, computing, and commerce.

HIT Dehradun is the only one of the three with a dedicated hotel management programme ranked nationally. Dev Bhoomi and Uttaranchal are deemed universities offering degree-granting autonomy that HIT (as an affiliated college) does not have. For engineering aspirants, the two universities are the stronger options. For hospitality and pure commerce tracks, HIT Dehradun’s national-level hospitality rankings make it the more relevant choice in Dehradun.
