SCMHRD: 89 Answered Questions

How much does a waitlist move in SCMHRD for an MBA gen?

Pranjal Sapra
Kunal Sinha

SCMHRD (Symbiosis Centre for Management and HRD), Pune — waitlist movement for MBA general category:

SCMHRD typically calls around 1,000+ candidates for ~250-280 seats across programs (HRM, Infrastructure Management, International Business). so the conversion pool is already factored in.

waitlist typically moves most actively between March-May after the second round of offers, when candidates accept IIM/XLRI/MDI/NMIMS seats and drop SCMHRD.

  • Waitlist rank 1-50: very high chance of conversion, almost certain
  • Waitlist rank 50-150: good chances, especially for HRM/IB programs which have more seats moving
  • Waitlist rank 150-300: possible but uncertain, depends heavily on how many top candidates accept and decline
  • Above 300: unlikely unless heavy attrition

practical advice — confirm interest immediately to SCMHRD if you're waitlisted. keep your CAT/SNAP scores fresh for backup. also check if SIBM Pune or SIIB Pune waitlist is available as alternatives within Symbiosis group. movement happens fast in late April-May.

Sapna Malik
Mansi Jain

If a student got a placement of 10 LPA then he is not allowed to sit for a company offering a package of 30 LPA. The policy of SIU is that once the student gets placed he is not allowed to sit further for placement. This policy ensures equal opportunities for every student and reduces the chances of unfair competition, thereby increasing the chances of every student getting placed.

Did anyone get placed in SCMHRD, Pune with less than 60% in graduation?

Sapna Malik
Mansi Jain

In SCMHRD, many students with less than 60% in their graduation are still getting placed. The eligibility criteria for placement often depend on the requirements of individual companies. Some companies require a minimum aggregate of 70% & more but usually companies do not come with such criteria. Also the aggregate is taken into consideration in the final year while the whole result is still awaited. This means there is a lesser chance of any student being unplaced with less than 60% in graduation.

This Campus is the center of student life and most of the learning takes place here. There are eminent IT companies in the Rajiv Gandhi InfoTech Park surrounding the Campus. Well laid-out amenities like cafeteria, auditorium, swimming pool and a mini amphi-theatre are central to the life on campus. A Health Care Center is right on the campus. For day-to-day requirements, the campus General store, Juice bar, Xerox shop, Cafeteria, Coffee shop, Laundry service, Beauty parlour and SBI ATM counter are a great convenience. All the three Institutes (SIIB, SCIT and SCMHRD) share the same campus, which provides an excellent opportunity to interact with students from other streams. In addition, D hostel has come up about half km away to cater for increased intake of students. The entire campus is a “No Smoking”, “Pollution-Free” and “Vehicle free (for students)” zone.
