Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), Pune is a private management institute established in 1993. SIMS Pune Admission Process

SIMS Pune admissions are driven entirely by SNAP. The institute’s seat structure is unlike any other B-school in India: 90% of seats are reserved for the defence community. MBA Admission - Defence Category

ROI should not only be looked at from the monetary aspect. Rather, ROI should also include the overall personality development of a student. This is because as an MBA student, one does not only invest money but also devotes valuable time for the course.

SIMS Pune has a lesser fee than SIBM Bangalore. For an MBA, SIMS Pune has a fee of around INR 10.5 Lakhs for general category students. The children of defense personnel are charged a lesser amount.

On the other hand, SIBM Bangalore charges around INR 19.1 Lakhs from Indian students of all categories. SIMS Pune has a larger alumni base and a greater industry connection. This is because SIMS Pune is very old in comparison to SIBM Bangalore.

In terms of ROI, SIMS Pune is better because of its lesser fee.

However, do consider these facts before arriving at the final decision-

SIMS Pune has a 90% seat reservation for students of defense background. Because of this, general students have to score way higher in comparison to get a seat in SIMS. This affects peer learning and in an MBA, peer learning is what you do.
Most coaching institutes such as Endeavor and TIME place SIBM Bangalore at a higher rank in the list of Tier-2 management colleges. This shows the reputation that SIBM Bangalore has created for itself in a short span.
The placements at SIBM Bangalore are continuously increasing and have reached par with SIMS Pune. SIMS Pune is stagnant in terms of placements.
The SIBM Bangalore tag has great value. Also, the location of SIBM B is a plus point, especially for those who wish to go for IT operations.
Students from different backgrounds come together at SIBM Bangalore. There are ex-employees, freshers, and people from various educational backgrounds.
SIBM Bangalore has a TEDx license, and Bloomberg terminals, all case studies are from Harvard business review, 12 clubs, and 12 committees, and there is an inclusion of courses on R, SPSS, tableau, and advanced Excel in the curriculum.

After considering all these points, I finally decided to go to SIBM Bangalore for my MBA.

Yes, it is worth spending INR 19 lakhs in IMT Ghaziabad. IMT Ghaziabad is a band A college while SIMS Pune is a lower rung band C college. So IMT Ghaziabad has a better brand presence which will help you in the long run. Also, the initial kickstart you will get is better here. Where SIMS Pune maybe a little better than IMT Ghaziabad is in the finance domain. The placements at the institute have been good with salaries as high as INR 15 lakhs per annum being offered to the students. The job roles are also quite good and are actually comparable to even some band B colleges.

SIOM is an excellent choice for students who want to opt for Operations Management only. Students in the stream get the opportunity to perform internships, projects, and even get placements related to operations only.
Some of the major sectors that hire students from Operations Management at SIOM include Logistics, FMCG, Consulting, Manufacturing, analytics, etc. Most of the consulting firms visiting the campus are either supply chain or ERP consulting companies. There are few companies from BFSI too.
SIMS provides good management programs in other domains, especially marketing and finance.

SIIB is the third rank college in SNAP and has a high cutoff around 98 percentile. Since SIMS admits mostly students from defense backgrounds so the quality of peer of SIIB, is comparatively better.

There’s also another parameter that you should consider while choosing the right institute for your MBA, i.e. specialization.

For Marketing and Finance, go for SIIB Pune. It is definitely a better choice, with more companies on campus as compared to SIMS.
If you are interested in Operation/SCM or HR go for SIMS. It has a large batch size for HR and Operations that ensures better placement opportunities and peer learning.

Another factor that is crucial for choosing a management institute is ROI. SIIB offers a poor Return On Investment if you don't get the top jobs. However, recently SIIB is seeing very good placements. SIIB is better in long term.
