TAPMI MBA FAQs

Ques. How does TAPMI weigh work experience against CAT percentile in the final selection merit?

Ans. Final merit at TAPMI is: entrance exam 35%, academics 15%, GD/WAT/PI 45%, diversity 5%. The interview round carries the heaviest weight, meaning strong work experience shown in the PI can offset a slightly lower percentile. For MBA Core, candidates with over 24 months of experience are evaluated profile-based without a strict percentile cutoff, giving experienced candidates a meaningful advantage over freshers at lower percentile bands.

Ques. What makes MBA Banking and Finance at TAPMI different from a general MBA in Finance?

Ans. The TAPMI MBA Banking and Finance, known as BKFS, includes a specialized curriculum covering derivatives, investment banking, treasury management, and financial risk, plus a separate industry-certification training costing INR 70,000. This is why total fees reach INR 20,80,000 versus INR 20,10,000 for other programs. In the 2025 placement season, BKFS graduates achieved the highest average CTC of INR 14.73 LPA at TAPMI, directly targeting banks, NBFCs, and financial services companies.

Ques. Does TAPMI’s AACSB and AMBA accreditation help in getting jobs in India?

Ans. In the Indian job market, dual accreditation signals academic quality to MNCs and consulting firms that use it as a campus shortlist filter. Global banks, consulting firms like McKinsey, and FMCG companies that recruit from TAPMI are aware of AACSB and AMBA. The accreditation also enables credit transfer and program recognition at partner foreign universities for graduates considering international education after MBA. For most Indian mid-market employers, placement track record and campus brand matter more than the accreditation label itself.

Ques. Can a TAPMI MBA student switch specialization after the first term?

Ans. Switching specialization at TAPMI after enrollment is generally not permitted. Each program has a separate intake, dedicated industry recruiter relationships, and a tailored curriculum beginning from Term 1. The admissions process also evaluates candidates for the specific program applied to. Candidates unsure between two specializations should contact the TAPMI admissions team at admissions.tapmi@manipal.edu before applying to discuss program fit and career outcomes for each track.

Ques. Which sectors and roles does TAPMI place its MBA graduates into?

Ans. TAPMI’s 2025 placement season drew recruiters from BFSI, FMCG, consulting, and manufacturing. Key hiring companies included Adani Group, Airtel, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ITC, JSW, and McKinsey. Roles spanned Sales and Marketing, Banking and Treasury, Supply Chain, HR Business Partner, Business Analytics, and Management Consulting. Marketing graduates typically joined brand management. Finance and BKFS graduates went into treasury, investment banking, and credit roles. The highest package of INR 32.77 LPA came from a finance or consulting placement.
