What is the Behavioural Assessment Test at MDI and how should one prepare?

The BAT is a situational judgment and psychometric test used by MDI Gurgaon in final selection to assess non-cognitive traits like integrity and decision-making under pressure. Unlike aptitude tests, it cannot be studied for in the traditional sense. It presents realistic workplace scenarios and evaluates how candidates respond. Being authentic rather than trying to guess the expected answer is the most effective approach. The BAT is assessed alongside the Personal Interview and individual scores are not disclosed to applicants.

How does PGDM-IB work as a dual degree and which European schools are partners?

PGDM-IB is structured so that students spend part of the 2-year programme at a European partner school, earning a dual degree from both MDI and the partner on completion. This opens European recruiter access and a broader global alumni network. MDI has not published a complete list of European partner institutions, so candidates should confirm the current partner schools directly with MDIs PGDM-IB admissions office before applying to the programme.

Is MDI PGDM equivalent to an MBA for government service eligibility?

MDI Gurgaons PGDM is AICTE-approved and treated as equivalent to an MBA by most Indian employers and government departments for promotion and salary purposes. The AICTE equivalence notification covers post-graduate management diplomas from AICTE-approved institutions. For central government roles that specifically require a university-degree MBA from a recognised university, candidates should verify the job notification language before assuming full PGDM equivalence.

Can a candidate apply to multiple PGDM tracks in the same cycle?

Yes, MDI Gurgaon allows candidates to indicate preferences across multiple tracks in a single application. However, an offer is made for a specific track, and switching between tracks after joining is generally not permitted, as each track runs as a separate cohort with its own curriculum. Why does MDI PGDM average salary lag behind IIM Calcutta despite similar CAT cutoffs?

MDI Gurgaon reports an average CTC of INR 25.6 LPA versus IIM Calcuttas INR 36 LPA for 2025. The gap comes from two factors: batch composition and brand pull. MDIs combined batch includes PGDM-HRM and PGDM-BAN cohorts whose averages are lower than general management tracks. IIM Calcuttas stronger brand attracts premium finance and consulting offers that lift the average higher. MDI Gurgaon PGDM Eligibility

You need at least 50% marks in Class 10, Class 12 and your degree, in any subject. A final-year student can apply if the degree is done by 30 Jun 2027. IB is stricter: you need a four-year degree and one year of work by 31 Jan 2027.

MDI Gurgaon PGDM Scholarships

The AICTE tuition fee waiver takes 100% of tuition off for EWS students, and MDI's own merit cum means award takes 50% off for 12 students a year. The O.P. Jindal award gives INR 1,50,000 in year 2. MDI also gives eight awards of INR 40,000 to its top students at the end of year 2.

Counsellor's advice

Tick all five courses on the one MDI form; it costs the same INR 3,000. If your CAT is well above the 96 percentile, put PGDM first. If you want finance at a lower fee, keep BFS high, and add IB only if you have a four-year degree and work experience.

PGDM Eligibility▾

Same rule, every course: At least 50% marks, or the same CGPA, in Class 10, Class 12 and your degree, in any subject.

Degree length: Three years or more for PGDM, HRM, BA and BFS. IB needs a four-year degree.

Final-year students: You can apply if your degree is done by 30 Jun 2027 and you show proof by 31 Oct 2027. This does not apply to IB.

Exam needed: A CAT 2026 score. Indian students cannot use GMAT, except for IB.

IB only: At least one year of work after a four-year degree, by 31 Jan 2027.

PGDM Admission Process▾

Fill the MDI form: One form covers all five courses and costs INR 3,000. Tick every course you would join.

Write CAT: CAT 2026 is on 29 Nov 2026. IB applicants may send a GMAT score instead.
