Ans. Admission is through the Karnataka DCET merit rank, administered by KEA. After DCET results were declared in June 2026, candidates register for KEA online counselling, complete document verification, and fill option entry on the KEA portal. Seat allotment to UBDTCE EEE is based on the DCET rank and options filled. The process is managed centrally by KEA at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in, and candidates do not need to contact the college separately during counselling.

Ans. The total fee for the 3-year BE Lateral Entry EEE programme at UBDTCE is INR 3,13,000 for the complete course. As a government college, fees are regulated and lower than most private VTU-affiliated institutions in Karnataka. Hostel charges are separate and not included. SC and ST Karnataka domicile students may qualify for full fee reimbursement through the Karnataka Post-Matric Scholarship via the ePass portal each year.

Ans. Candidates with a Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or allied electrical branches from AICTE-approved or Karnataka Board-recognised institutions are eligible. A minimum of 45% aggregate in the 5th and 6th Diploma semesters is required, with 40% for SC and ST Karnataka domicile candidates. Final eligibility is verified by KEA during the DCET counselling document verification stage before seat allotment.

Ans. BE EEE graduates from UBDTCE are eligible for government sector roles in Karnataka’s electricity boards such as BESCOM, GESCOM, and MESCOM, as well as central PSUs including NTPC, BHEL, PowerGrid, and KSEB. Graduates can also appear for GATE to pursue M.Tech or score for PSU recruitment. Private sector placements in manufacturing, automation, and panel manufacturing firms in central Karnataka region are also available through the annual campus drive at UBDTCE.

Ans. The lateral entry programme admits Diploma holders directly into the second year of the 4-year BE EEE programme. Lateral entry students complete semesters 3 through 8 over three years, studying the same VTU curriculum and appearing in the same VTU semester examinations as regular intake students. The degree awarded on successful completion is the same BE in Electrical and Electronics Engineering as that received by regular 4-year students from UBDTCE.

Ans. UBDTCE Davanagere has on-campus hostel facilities for male and female students. Hostel accommodation for lateral entry students is subject to availability and is separate from the academic admission process managed by KEA. Hostel charges include an admission component and monthly mess fees. Students who need hostel accommodation should confirm current availability and rates with the college administration when they report for admission after seat allotment.
