UBDTCE M.Tech CADS FAQs
Ques. What is the total fee for M.Tech CADS at UBDTCE?
Ans. The total fee for M.Tech in Computer Aided Design of Structures at UBDTCE is INR 1,51,000 for the complete 2-year programme. This covers tuition and institutional charges for both years. Hostel charges are billed separately. As a government engineering college, UBDTCE’s M.Tech fees are considerably lower than most private VTU-affiliated institutions in Karnataka. GATE-qualified students may additionally be eligible for a monthly stipend of INR 12,400 per month as per AICTE norms.
Ques. What is the eligibility for M.Tech CADS admission at UBDTCE?
Ans. Candidates must hold a BE or B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent branch from a recognised institution with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. A valid Karnataka PGCET score in the Civil Engineering paper is required for admission through KEA counselling. Candidates with a valid GATE score in Civil Engineering may also apply under the GATE quota as per KEA norms. There is no age restriction for M.Tech admission at VTU-affiliated government colleges.
Ques. What labs and software does the CADS programme at UBDTCE use?
Ans. The CADS programme at UBDTCE is supported by the Civil Engineering department’s Structural Laboratory, which is equipped with a Beggs Deformometer, load cells for beam and frame testing, and universal testing machines. The department uses NISA, a software platform for finite element analysis and structural simulations, as the primary computational tool for PG students. The VTU-recognised research centre within the department also supports dissertation work and advanced structural analysis projects for CADS students.
Ques. What are the career options after M.Tech CADS from UBDTCE?
Ans. M.Tech CADS graduates can pursue roles in structural design consultancy, finite element analysis, construction project management, government engineering departments, and academia. Structural consultancy firms, government organisations such as KPWD and NHAI, and real estate developers hiring senior structural engineers are the primary employers. Graduates interested in teaching can apply for lecturer positions in degree colleges. Doctoral research through VTU is another pathway, and the UBDTCE Civil department’s active research centre supports PhD supervision for CADS graduates.
Ques. Can a GATE score be used for M.Tech CADS admission at UBDTCE?
Ans. Yes, candidates with a valid GATE score in Civil Engineering can apply for M.Tech CADS at UBDTCE. Karnataka PGCET counselling administered by KEA accepts GATE scores for M.Tech admission at VTU-affiliated colleges, including UBDTCE. A GATE-qualified candidate admitted to a government college is also eligible for a monthly stipend of INR 12,400 per month under AICTE norms, subject to annual renewal and institutional approval. This makes the GATE route financially rewarding in addition to the low programme fee at UBDTCE.
