Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, a government institution established in 1961, is the second-oldest engineering college in West Bengal. JGEC is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. The courses taught at JGEC have been approved by AICTE and accredited by NBA and NAAC.

JGEC teaches eight specializations across two courses. The applicants interested in pursuing B.Tech in JGEC should have completed 10+2 in the Science stream; they must also take the WBJEE for selection.

To pursue M Tech, a candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering from a recognized university.

"A honest review of JGEC"

Remarks :

I appeared in WBJEE then I got the chance to study in this college (though even then I wasn't serious about the exam). Finally, I got admitted to JGEC in July 2019. I was in college till Feb of 2020 till the covid situation fell down. I think JGEC is an underestimated college, it has fantastic natural scenarios and environment and a campus full of green plants. I always wanted to get admission to JU or JGEC because both are very old and reputed colleges and have a good academic record. So when I didn't get a chance to study at JU, JGEC was always my second choice. The hostel food of jgeJGECc is very good at least better than the messes. The infrastructure of the college is good and just this year in 2021 it got accredited by NAAC and now it is a tier 2 college which is not bad.

Remarks :

Excellent atmosphere all over the campus Faculty and Alumni of this college is very good The hostels are over the expectations. There are many cultural events, Tech fest and annual social fest in every year. The placement statistics per year is even better.

Then I go college in the date like 6/06/2018 with affidavit and demand draft of fees and got the admission.

After my result out of 12th exam in WBCHSE board, I sat on WBJEE in 2018 and got a rank of 7376( General Merit Rank). Then I sat for online councilling of WBJEE. In the Mop-up round Iand got and opportunity to study in this college in the Electrical Engineering department.

After the results were out following were the process Online registration for WBJEE counselling 2019: June 24- June 29, 2019 Online choice filling by candidates: June 24 June 30, 2019 Declaration of round 1 seat allotment: July 3, 2019 Round 1 ( Physical reporting, document verification, initial fee payment etc): July 4, 2019 to July 7, 2019 Declaration of round 2 seat allotment: July 9, 2019 Round 2 (Physical reporting, document verification, initial fee payment etc): July 10, 2019 to July 11, 2019 Declaration of round 3 allotment: July 13, 2019 Round 3 (Physical reporting, document verification, initial fee payment etc): July 15, 2019 to July 17, 2019 Last date for physical reporting and admission at final allotted July 20, 2019 E-Admission procedure closes: July 20, 2019 After college and branch is allocated you have to physically reach the college on their given date for different branches to complete the admission process and fee payment.

Wbjee rank 2086. Admission through counselling by wbjee rank. Class started in july 2009 in electrical engineering. The college is very old and famous. Campus recruitment are very good. Infrastructure is very good. Ragging was under control. No complaints were there for ragging at that time.
