Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, a government institution established in 1961, is the second-oldest engineering college in West Bengal. JGEC is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. The courses taught at JGEC have been approved by AICTE and accredited by NBA and NAAC.
JGEC teaches eight specializations across two courses. The applicants interested in pursuing B.Tech in JGEC should have completed 10+2 in the Science stream; they must also take the WBJEE for selection.
To pursue M Tech, a candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering from a recognized university.
JGEC has a placement cell that actively participates in placing its students in premier companies. In 2019, 80% of the students were hired. Recruiters include Cognizant, HPL, Wipro, Infosys and Bosch.
