Placement Experience :
Students can apply for on-campus placements before their 8th sem. Various companies are visiting our colleges such as TCS, INFOSYS, and some more core companies, The number of product-based companies visiting the college is very less so one has to do it on his own if he\she wants to make it there. For example, just in 2020, some guy from the IT dept got a 30 LPA off-campus placement from the college, and it the topmost package from this college till now. I think every year 75 percent of the students get placed somewhere and get a package of 3-4 LPA average.

Several companies such as Infosys,Cognizant,TCS,CTS visit our college.Average package offered is 3.6 Lpa.This year several students achieved place in major technological company such as amazon through off campus.

All most 70% students are recruited through campus placement every year. There are language lab where special classes are organised for campus recruitment.

The placement has seen a downsurge over the last 5-6 years.In civil engineering, companies such as M.N.Dastur, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, Paharpur Cooling Towers, Ashiana Housing and Patil Railway Infrastructures did on campus placements in 2016.STUP Consultancy did off campus placements too.Apart from civil engineering, core-derivative departments such as computer science and information technology have great placements in TCS, Infosys, Capgemini and the like.Stipends in these companies varied according to company policies.But on an average scale, 3.2 LPA would be more or less every placed student would get.Interships were not organized by the college but they would give permission and recommendation for any type of internship and vocational training.

92% of the total students are placed in different companies this year. 2. The highest salary offered was 30 lakh. The lowest salary is 8 lakh. Average salary is about 18 lakh.TCS, Tech Mahindra, Infosys come to recruit from the mechanical department of jgec. Roles like the designer, worker in factories are given to the students. 100% of students got internships in various companies like DSP, NTPC, Mahindra and Mahindra and other big companies.

Placements and job opportunities are very high. Every year approximately 75-80% students placed in the multi national company. Cognizant , TCS , IBM , ERRICSON , ROBERT BOSCH, MN Dastur , SPC etc many companies come in the college and recruit the students. Apart from that very startup companies also come and recruit. 3rd year students also get the chance to seat in the placement if they selected then they will got the internships under these companies with pre placement offer.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes , Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College provide internships in the college premises. As well as teachers send the students to the IITs and NITs based on their needs. They organised some workshops , training in the college.

Placement drive is conducted in every year. Students can turn up for placement from 3rd year. Every department has its own placement drive programme. There is also a placement committe to conduct and arrange these drives.

"A honest review of JGEC"
I appeared in WBJEE then I got the chance to study in this college (though even then I wasn't serious about the exam). Finally, I got admitted to JGEC in July 2019. I was in college till Feb of 2020 till the covid situation fell down. I think JGEC is an underestimated college, it has fantastic natural scenarios and environment and a campus full of green plants. I always wanted to get admission to JU or JGEC because both are very old and reputed colleges and have a good academic record. So when I didn't get a chance to study at JU, JGEC was always my second choice. The hostel food of jgeJGECc is very good at least better than the messes. Excellent atmosphere all over the campus Faculty and Alumni of this college is very good The hostels are over the expectations. There are many cultural events, Tech fest and annual social fest in every year. The placement statistics per year is even better.

There was a good placement in this year and side by side previous years too. Many companies came to the college and took the best student among them. So total there were more than 110 placements this year. Although the previous year's number of placement was less comparatively than this year. The classrooms and the other rooms are well furnished. There is a Wi-Fi for teachers as well as for students in the college campus and LAN connection in each and every room in the hostels. The food in the canteen is very delicious. The labs are very good with the required number of apparatus.
