Vidyalankar Institute of Technology Mumbai: 12 Answered Questions

How is Vidyalankar Institute of Technology Wadala for B.Tech. CSE?

FickleFawn

My experience at Vidyalankar for B Tech CSE has been good so far. The faculty is helpful and they focus on practical knowledge, which is a plus. There are regular exams that keep us on our toes, but they aren't too hard if you keep up with the lectures. I've seen that many companies, including TCS and Wipro, come for placements, and the highest package is quite impressive at 37 LPA. Overall, I'm satisfied with my decision to study here.

What package you got after graduating from Vidyalankar Institute of Technology Wadala?

FolderFolly

I completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. Upon graduation, I was fortunate enough to receive a placement offer with a package of 7-8 lakhs per annum, with the highest package going up to 37.5 lakhs. The college has a good reputation for placements, and many companies visit the campus. The fees were reasonable, especially as I availed the OBC scholarship, which helped lessen the burden on my family.

How is Vidyalankar Institute of Technology for a B.Tech. CE? Should I get myself admitted there just because it is near my home? I am getting RAIT, VESIT, KJS, SION.

GoldenGull

I have been studying at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology for my BTech in Electronics and Telecom Engineering, and I would say it's a mixed bag. The faculty is quite knowledgeable, and most of them are PhD holders. The overall campus life is good, with various events like the annual fest "Verve" which is quite popular.

The fees are around 1,34,000 for general category students, but OBC students like me pay around 75,739. However, the placement scene is not very strong in the EXTC branch, with many students preparing for GATE instead. If you're looking at other colleges like RAIT or VESIT, you might want to weigh your options based on placement opportunities.

Why is Vidyalankar Institute of Technology still a part of government admissions when there are reports of casteism and discrimination from students?

HexHeavenly

Despite reports of casteism, Vidyalankar Institute of Technology continues to be involved in government admissions primarily due to the scholarships provided. As someone studying for a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science & Electronic Engineering), I received financial assistance through the MAHADBT scholarship for my OBC category, which significantly lowered my fees. This support allows students from different backgrounds to pursue higher studies, which is a crucial aspect of our education system.

Is Vidyalankar Institute of Technology good for an electronics engineering??

KernelKaizen

Yes, I think Vidyalankar Institute of Technology is good for Electronics Engineering. The faculty here is quite supportive, and most of them hold PhDs. They really focus on practical learning, which helps us get a better understanding of the subject. The curriculum is designed to include both theory and practical skills, and the exams are not too tough if you attend the lectures regularly.

Plus, the college has good internship opportunities, which I find essential for gaining real-world experience. Overall, it’s a solid option if you're considering this field.

What is your review of Vidyalankar Institute of Technology?

BinaryBlithe

Pros

  • Teaching quality is mostly good, with a few exceptions here and there.
  • Vidyalankar provides notes to all students, which are super helpful for preparing for unit tests and understanding the subjects better.
  • The infrastructure is top-notch.
  • The library has a partnership with IIT, so you can find many reference books there.
  • Labs are expected to be accessible 24/7 for students soon, though it's not official yet.
  • ETRX and EXTC branches have received NBA accreditation, and other branches are expected to follow.
  • V print is a convenient printing center for students, and there's a general store for all student needs.
  • Attendance rules aren't too strict, but be cautious of some teachers who might give you a hard time if your attendance is low.

Cons

  • One downside is the travel; it's tricky unless you live in Wadala.
  • The college is surrounded by slums, so there aren't any hangout spots nearby.
  • You have to wear your ID on campus at all times, which some might find annoying.
  • The student council isn't very effective, and Verve, the college fest, doesn't attract students from other colleges.
  • Many students treat it as a break.
  • The campus is just okay, and the average salary package is 3.25 lakhs.
  • However, if you're skilled in programming, there's a company called Works Applications that offers a 35 lakh package, but you need to be really good.
  • Some teachers are excellent, but most are new hires, so you might need extra classes or self-study for some subjects.
  • Submissions can be quite a hassle, as they are in every college.
  • The canteen isn't great, so bringing your own food is a good idea.
  • Some faculty members can be quite difficult, so it's best to avoid conflicts.
  • The student body is mostly Maharashtrian, so it's helpful to learn Marathi if you're not from the region.
  • Overall, it's an average college with excellent facilities and a slightly above-average student group.

How is Vidyalankar Institute of Technology Wadala Mumbai for M.E. CSE?

ServerSphere

I'm not the best person to provide details about the faculty or placements at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. Generally, students pursue an ME degree to get into teaching roles. The skills needed for software development in Indian companies often differ from what you learn during your engineering studies. If becoming a developer is your main aim, you might want to learn a programming language independently and start working in the field.

Which is better for computer engineering: Vidyalankar Institute of Technology or KJ Somaiya?

Akhil DesaiB.Tech Information Technology, K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering (2021)

I have friends from both Vidyalankar Institute of Technology and KJ Somaiya. Based on the conversations I had with them, I will suggest you choose KJ Somaiya for a CS degree.

Here are some of the reasons why you should prefer KJ CE/IT over Vidyalankar CE /IT.

  • KJ Somaiya is an autonomous institute. So their course curriculum is quite flexible.
  • Vacations will be quite long. You can utilize this time to do internships in some IT firms.
  • The CS and IT department of KJ Somaiya has amazing CSI and other councils working for them.
  • KJ Somaiya has a vast campus. The sports facilities offered at the institute are also quite great.
  • The placement average for KJSCE is 100% for CS IT branches. As it is an autonomous institute more recruiting companies visit the institute for placements.

Vidyalankar is not a bad choice either. Both colleges have their own advantages. Here is a brief comparison of the two institutes.

Parameters  KJ Somaiya Vidyalankar Institute of Technology
Average CTC  5 LPA  4.16 LPA
Highest CTC 18.75 LPA  7 LPA
Major recruiters  Microsoft, IBM, Vodafone TCS, Just Dial, Axis Bank
Course fee  11.35 lakhs  6.03 lakhs

You should do your own research on the institute and choose according to your convenience.

Which is better, electronics at VESIT or electronics at the Vidyalankar Institute of Technology?

Nikhil Ranjan
Riyansh SethMechanical Engineering at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology (2021)

If in case, you want to focus on your GPAs, then Vidyalankar Institute of Technology can be a good choice because you will have all the required study materials. Some of them include GQs, EQs, and others. Mainly, the professors go around to encourage you in scoring particularly well in your semesters.

There is another factor you need to understand. If you are planning to go for acquiring a good knowledge base, then you will also have access to certain topics such as Stack Overflow, Instructables, Hackster, arXiv.org, Ieee Xplore, and several others.

You might not receive the knowledge base in either of the institutes, but you can still have a slight edge at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology if you go for a good GPA.

Besides, the faculty is supportive and more importantly, encouraging. The labs are well maintained and particularly well equipped as well.
