Which PGDM specialisation should you pick at GIBS?

Specialisation
PGDM FinTech (FinTech)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want finance jobs that use technology: HDFC Bank and Axis Bank have hired from the GIBS PGDM batch, and Bangalore has many fintech start-ups.
You want tech subjects at the standard fee: FinTech costs INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years, the same as Finance.
Skip it if:
You do not like working with data and software: FinTech mixes finance with data and software, so pick Finance for money and markets only.
You want a FinTech pay figure before you join: GIBS publishes one average pay for the whole PGDM batch, not one for FinTech.
PGDM Finance (Finance)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want a bank or Big Four job: HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Deloitte, EY and KPMG have hired from the GIBS PGDM batch.
Your CAT percentile is 60 or more: that gets you the interview call for Finance, the same as for every other specialisation.
Skip it if:
You want deep data or software work: FinTech or Information Technology covers that, while Finance stays with accounts, markets and banking.
You expect Finance to pay more than the rest: GIBS publishes one average of INR 8.4 LPA for the whole batch, not a Finance figure.
PGDM Human Resource Management (HR)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want to work with people and hiring: every large company needs HR staff, and IT firms like TCS and Wipro hire many people each year.
You want a second subject too: GIBS teaches PGDM as a dual specialisation, so you can study HR with one more field.
Skip it if:
You want the highest starting pay: GIBS does not publish pay by specialisation, so nothing shows that HR pays as much as Finance or Marketing.
You do not want to deal with people all day: HR work means talking to staff and candidates daily, so pick Operations or Finance.
PGDM General (General)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 5.0 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You are not sure of your field yet: the General course costs the same INR 11.60 Lakhs and covers marketing, finance, HR and operations.
You want the course students rate highest: General is rated 5.0 on Collegedunia, the top rating among the PGDM courses here.
Skip it if:
You already know the field you want: a named specialisation such as Finance or Marketing gives you more subjects in that field.
You want a job in one field from the start: companies hiring for finance or marketing jobs often ask for that specialisation.
PGDM Marketing (Marketing)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want sales, brand or research jobs: market research gave 14% of the Class of 2025 offers, the biggest sector that year.
You like working with customers: Amazon, Flipkart and ITC have hired from the GIBS PGDM batch for sales and brand jobs.
Your CAT percentile is between 60 and 79.99: you get the interview call, and a strong SOP and interview carry 40% of your final score.
Skip it if:
You want a desk job with fixed hours: many first marketing jobs are field sales with targets, so check the job profile before you accept.
You want only online marketing work: pick Digital Marketing, which keeps to online ads and social media.
PGDM Digital Marketing (Digital Marketing)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want online ads and social media jobs: Bangalore has many start-ups and online stores, and Amazon and Flipkart have hired from the GIBS PGDM batch.
You want the standard fee: it costs INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years, the same as Marketing.
Skip it if:
You want a wide marketing base: Marketing covers brand, sales and research, while this course keeps to online work.
You want a pay figure for this course: GIBS publishes one average pay for the whole batch, not for Digital Marketing.
PGDM Healthcare Management (Healthcare)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want to work for hospitals or health firms: Bangalore has many large hospital chains and health tech firms that need managers.
You studied science, pharmacy or nursing: this course puts your first degree to use in hospital and health work.
Skip it if:
You want the widest choice of companies: most of the batch's 300+ recruiters are banks, IT and consulting firms, not hospitals.
You want a general business job: a Finance or Marketing specialisation fits more job openings in banks, IT and consulting firms.
PGDM Information Technology (IT)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want to manage IT projects: TCS, Wipro and IBM have hired from the GIBS PGDM batch, and Bangalore is full of IT companies.
You hold an engineering or BCA degree: any graduate with 50% can apply, and your tech background helps in the IT subjects.
Skip it if:
You do not enjoy technology: this course is about software projects and systems, so pick Marketing or HR instead.
You want a pay figure for IT: GIBS publishes one average pay for the whole batch, not for this course.
PGDM International Business (International Business)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want export, trade or global firm jobs: Bangalore has many global company offices, and Deloitte, EY and PwC have hired from the GIBS PGDM batch.
You want a global subject at the standard fee: it costs INR 11.60 Lakhs, INR 1 Lakh less than International Management.
Skip it if:
You want to stay with sales or finance only: this course adds trade and foreign market subjects that a Marketing or Finance student does not need.
You expect a separate placement record: GIBS publishes one placement figure for the whole PGDM batch, so ask the placement cell which firms took this course.
PGDM International Management (International Management)
INR 12.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You can pay INR 1 Lakh more: it costs INR 12.60 Lakhs for two years, the only PGDM course here above INR 11.60 Lakhs.
You want a career with global companies: Amazon, IBM and Bosch have hired from the GIBS PGDM batch, and all three work in many countries.
Skip it if:
You are on a tight budget: with hostel it costs INR 15.48 Lakhs, INR 1 Lakh more than every other course here.
You expect a separate placement record: GIBS publishes one figure for the whole batch, so the higher fee has no pay number of its own.
PGDM Operations and Supply Chain Management (Operations)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want factory, logistics or supply jobs: manufacturing gave 12% of the Class of 2025 offers, and Bosch and Maruti Suzuki have hired from the batch.
You like planning and numbers: this course covers stock, transport and supply planning, which every factory and online store needs.
Skip it if:
You want an office job in the city centre: many operations jobs are at warehouses and plants on the edge of the city.
You want a pay figure for Operations: GIBS publishes one average pay for the whole batch, not for this course.
PGDM Rural and Agribusiness Management (Rural and Agribusiness)
INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel. Rated 4.5 on Collegedunia.
Pick it if:
You want to work with farm, food or rural firms: ITC has hired from the GIBS PGDM batch, and it buys and sells farm goods.
You come from a farming or rural family: this course uses what you know about villages and crops in business jobs.
Skip it if:
You want many companies to choose from: fewer of the batch's 300+ recruiters work in farming than in banking, IT or consulting.
You want a city job in Bangalore: many agribusiness jobs are in small towns, close to farms and markets.
Counsellor's advice
If you are sure of your field, pick that specialisation first. If you are not sure, take General and keep every field open. Pay the extra INR 1 Lakh only if you want International Management.

FAQs on GIBS Business School PGDM

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Is PGDM at GIBS worth the fee?▾
It can be, if you get placed near the batch average. The full fee is INR 11.60 Lakhs without hostel, and the Class of 2026 averaged INR 8.4 LPA with 100% of eligible students placed. At that pay you earn the fee back in under two years of work. If you plan a loan, check the EMI tile in the fee block above first.
Which specialisation should I pick at GIBS?▾
Pick the field you want to work in, not the one that sounds newest. Eleven specialisations cost the same INR 11.60 Lakhs, so the fee does not decide it. GIBS publishes one pay figure for the whole batch, so pay cannot decide it either. Read who each specialisation suits in the block above before you fill the form.
Should I pay more for International Management?▾
Only if you want a global career and can pay INR 1 Lakh more. It costs INR 12.60 Lakhs against INR 11.60 Lakhs for every other specialisation. GIBS does not publish a separate placement figure for it. Ask the Admission Cell what the extra fee pays for before you choose it.
Will I get a job after PGDM at GIBS?▾
Most students do. GIBS placed 100% of its eligible Class of 2026 students at an average of INR 8.4 LPA, with 300+ companies taking part. Amazon, Deloitte, HDFC Bank and TCS are among the recruiters. Ask the placement cell which companies hired from your specialisation last year.
Should I apply to GIBS with a 60 percentile?▾
Yes, 60 percentile is the score GIBS asks for before it calls you for the interview. The exam is only 20% of your final score, while the SOP and interview carry 40%. So prepare the interview well, and use the checker above to see what your range gets you.
Who should skip PGDM at GIBS?▾
Skip it if you need a pay figure for your own specialisation before you join, because GIBS publishes one figure for the whole batch. Also think twice if the INR 14.48 Lakhs total with hostel means a big loan. If neither worries you, compare the fee with the INR 8.4 LPA average in the fee block above.
Is a PGDM from GIBS a good choice instead of an MBA?▾
For jobs, yes. AICTE approves the GIBS PGDM and NBA has accredited it, and companies that hire at GIBS take PGDM and MBA students for the same jobs. If you plan a PhD later, check the rules of the university you want to join before you decide.
Does salary differ by specialisation at GIBS?▾
GIBS does not say. It publishes one figure for the whole PGDM batch: INR 8.4 LPA average and INR 20 LPA highest for the Class of 2026. So do not pick a specialisation only for pay. Ask the placement cell which firms hired from it last year.
Should I wait a year and take CAT again?▾
Only if your percentile is much lower than the colleges you want and you can study for a full year. Waiting costs you a year of pay, and GIBS already calls you for the interview at 60 percentile. If your score is 90 or more, you also get the INR 75,000 merit award here.
How do I get admission to PGDM at GIBS?▾
Take CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT or another exam on the list and apply online with the INR 950 form fee. Write your SOP, then attend the online interview if your percentile is 60 or more. The offer letter comes within 5 to 7 working days, and the INR 50,000 admission fee holds your seat.
Is the fee the same for every specialisation?▾
Almost. Eleven specialisations cost INR 11.60 Lakhs for two years without hostel, and International Management costs INR 12.60 Lakhs. Hostel adds INR 1.44 Lakhs a year. Tap your specialisation in the fee block above to see its full total.
What scholarships can I get at GIBS?▾
GIBS gives merit awards by entrance percentile: INR 75,000 for 90 or more, down to INR 25,000 for 60 to 69.99. Defence wards, siblings of GIBS students and differently abled students can get INR 20,000. Use the scholarship calculator above to see your amount.
Can I apply before my final-year result?▾
Yes. Final-year students can apply with their current marks and show the final mark sheet later. You still need 50% in graduation, or 45% for a reserved category, by the time you start. Send the mark sheet to the Admission Cell as soon as it comes out.
