Four specializations, one price point. Every B.Des program at SID Pune carries an identical total fee of INR 20,20,000 over four years. That works out to INR 5,05,000 per year regardless of whether a student studies Communication Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, or Industrial Design. This uniform structure places SID among the higher-priced design undergraduate programs at deemed universities in India.

The parity is a deliberate institutional design: specialization choice at SID is entirely merit-driven. Applicants are assessed on SET scores, portfolio quality, and personal interaction performance. No discipline commands a fee premium over another, so a student can pursue their strongest discipline without any cost trade-off.

Admission to all four B.Des programs is through the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET), followed by a Portfolio Review and a Personal Interaction (PI) round conducted at SID. Candidates must have completed 10+2 from a recognised board to be eligible.

B.Des at SID Pune is a studio-intensive program. Studios, workshops, and equipment access are integral to the curriculum, and the fee structure reflects the resource investment SID makes across all four disciplines equally. A student choosing Industrial Design works with fabrication labs and prototyping tools. A Communication Design student works with print and digital media studios. The per-year cost is identical because the infrastructure investment is comparable across disciplines.

The M.Des in User Experience Design at SID Pune costs INR 7,90,000 in total for two years under the general quota. The annual fee of INR 3,95,000 is roughly 22% lower than the INR 5,05,000 charged annually for B.Des. For a designer who already holds an undergraduate degree and wants to specialise in UX, postgraduate study at SID offers considerably better per-year value than re-entering at the undergraduate level.

Looking at the two-program totals side by side makes this more striking: a B.Des student spends INR 20,20,000 over four years, while an M.Des student spends INR 7,90,000 over two years. The postgraduate degree costs less than 40% of the undergraduate degree in absolute terms.

NRI students admitted to M.Des face a markedly different fee structure. The total NRI fee is INR 17,13,150, which is more than double the general quota total. SID Pune Application Fees 2026

SID does not levy a separate institute-level application or processing fee for any of its programs. The admission process begins with the Symbiosis Entrance Test, and the only upfront payment is the SET registration fee collected by the Symbiosis Test Secretariat.
