BITSoM is a young institution established in 2021 and is not yet covered by NIRF Management Rankings or other major Indian B-school ranking bodies.

The campus is located in Mumbai, within the BITS Pilani Knowledge Village complex. The MBA is a fully residential programme, with on-campus accommodation included in the programme fee.

  • MBA (Two-Year Flagship) - Fully residential, CAT / GMAT / GMAT Focus / GRE-based admission, INR 28,55,000 (all-inclusive)

BITSoM Courses and Fees

BITSoM Mumbai offers a two-year residential MBA and three short certificate courses for working professionals. The MBA is the only degree programme currently on offer, positioned as a premium business education with BITS Pilani brand backing.

MBA (Two-Year Residential)2 yearsAny bachelor’s degree + valid CAT / GMAT / GRE scoreINR 28,55,000 (all-inclusive)
Certificate - Business AnalyticsShort-formatWorking professionalsINR 60,099
Certificate - Digital MarketingShort-formatWorking professionalsINR 60,099
Certificate - Product Management FundamentalsShort-formatWorking professionalsINR 50,000

The MBA fee of INR 28,55,000 is an all-inclusive figure. The breakdown is tuition (INR 23,85,000) plus a one-time admission fee (INR 1,50,000) plus on-campus accommodation for two years (INR 3,00,000) plus a refundable security deposit (INR 20,000). There is no separate hostel bill. Most comparable private B-schools charge hostel fees separately, which can add INR 2 to 4 Lakhs to the total outlay - making BITSoM’s bundled fee a meaningful point of comparison.

BITSoM Admission Process

BITSoM MBA admission follows a two-stage holistic process. Candidates are not shortlisted on test score alone - the profile evaluation covers essays, academic record, co-curricular achievements, and work experience. There is no centralised counselling route and no management quota.

MBA Admission

  • Eligibility: Any bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution. Final-year graduation students may also apply. No minimum graduation percentage is officially specified - BITSoM evaluates the full academic record holistically.
  • Step 1 - Application: Submit test score (CAT/GMAT/GRE), undergraduate transcripts, two mandatory essays, resume, and co-curricular profile through the BITSoM admissions portal. Pay the application fee of INR 2,500.
  • Step 2 - Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates attend a Personal Interview evaluating communication, problem-solving, and leadership potential.
  • Final Merit: Admission decision combines test score, academic record, essays, work experience, and Personal Interview performance.

The 2026-28 batch had a median CAT percentile of 94.64 (range 80.09 to 99.41), a median GMAT of 700 (range 640 to 750), and a median GRE of 320. Candidates with strong essays and work profiles occasionally receive shortlist calls below the median percentile. Fresh graduates may apply - work experience is not mandatory but adds weightage in the evaluation.

BITSoM’s acceptance of GMAT and GRE scores makes it accessible to candidates preparing for international MBA programmes simultaneously. A GMAT score of 680 to 700 or a GRE score around 320 falls within the typical admitted profile range based on batch data published by the institute.

BITSoM Placements

BITSoM is a young B-school (established 2021) with two graduating MBA batches so far. Placement outcomes for the 2023-25 batch reflect growing recruiter participation as the institute builds its campus recruitment calendar.

Note: Placement figures for BITSoM are sourced from institute-published reports and are not independently verified by NIRF or a third-party audit body. BITSoM is too young to have a placement track record comparable to established B-schools. Prospective students should verify the latest data on the official BITSoM placement report at bitsom.edu.in.

In the 2025 placement season (batch 2023-25), the highest offer was INR 32.5 LPA. The average package was INR 21 LPA and the median package was INR 20.52 LPA. Over 70% of offers were above INR 20 LPA. The top 50% of the batch secured an average of INR 25.64 LPA.

Consulting and BFSI were the largest offer sectors. Key recruiters cited by the institute include McKinsey, BCG, Accenture Strategy, EY, KPMG, PwC, Aditya Birla Group, ICICI Bank, J.P. Morgan, and HUL. The BITS Pilani alumni network provides additional mentor and referral access across sectors.

BITSoM Scholarships

BITSoM offers merit-based financial support for eligible MBA students and facilitates education loan access for admitted candidates.

BITS Pilani Alumni ScholarshipBITS Pilani alumni occasionally sponsor scholarships for BITSoM students. Details are communicated to admitted students at the start of the academic programme.
Education Loan FacilitationBITSoM provides a referral letter to support students seeking education loans from nationalised and private banks. The MBA fee is loan-eligible under the IBA model education loan scheme.

BITSoM Campus and Infrastructure

BITSoM is located at the BITS Pilani Knowledge Village campus in Mumbai. The MBA is a fully residential programme - all students live on campus for the duration of the two-year programme. On-campus accommodation cost (INR 3,00,000 for two years) is bundled into the total MBA fee.

The campus infrastructure includes modern classrooms and seminar halls designed for case-based MBA pedagogy, a business library, computer labs, and recreational facilities. The Mumbai location gives students direct access to the city’s financial services, consulting, and technology ecosystems for internships, guest lectures, and placement interactions. The BITS Pilani Knowledge Village hosts other BITS entities, providing a broader campus community environment.

BITSoM vs SPJIMR Mumbai vs NMIMS Mumbai

Aspirants shortlisting premium private business schools in Mumbai often compare BITSoM with S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) and NMIMS School of Business Management - all three are private B-schools in Mumbai accepting CAT scores.

SPJIMR has the strongest placement track record and alumni network among the three, reflecting its four-decade history. BITSoM’s advantage is its small cohort, BITS Pilani brand backing, and GMAT/GRE acceptance that gives it a global profile profile mix. NMIMS offers a wider specialisation portfolio and a larger Mumbai alumni base. Aspirants choosing BITSoM are typically betting on the BITS Pilani brand and the smaller cohort size over the more established institutional pedigree of SPJIMR.

BITSoM FAQs

Ques. What is the CAT cutoff for BITSoM MBA?

Ans. BITSoM does not publish a hard CAT cutoff. Based on the 2026-28 admitted batch data, the median CAT percentile was 94.64 (range 80.09 to 99.41). Candidates targeting BITSoM should aim for a CAT percentile of 90 or above to be competitive for a shortlist. GMAT and GRE are also accepted - the median admitted GMAT was 700 (range 640 to 750).

Ques. What is the total MBA fee at BITSoM?

Ans. The total MBA fee at BITSoM is INR 28,55,000 for two years, all-inclusive. This covers tuition (INR 23,85,000), a one-time admission fee (INR 1,50,000), and on-campus accommodation for two years (INR 3,00,000). A refundable security deposit of INR 20,000 is included. There is no separate hostel charge for MBA students.

Ques. Is BITSoM worth the fees?

Ans. BITSoM’s median placement package in the 2025 season was INR 20.52 LPA, giving a rough two-year ROI of the entire programme fee from the first year’s salary alone. As a young B-school established in 2021, it is still building its alumni network and recruiter base - which represents both a risk and an upside for early cohorts. The BITS Pilani brand and small cohort size (around 150) are cited by students as key differentiators. Compare with more established alternatives before deciding.

Ques. Does BITSoM accept GMAT for admission?

Ans. Yes. BITSoM accepts CAT, GMAT, GMAT Focus Edition, and GRE for MBA admission. Candidates who have appeared in GMAT for international MBA programmes can apply to BITSoM simultaneously. The median GMAT of the 2026-28 admitted batch was 700.

Ques. Is work experience required for BITSoM MBA?

Ans. No. Work experience is not mandatory for BITSoM MBA admission. Fresh graduates with strong academic profiles and compelling essays are shortlisted. Relevant work experience adds weightage in the holistic evaluation but is not a prerequisite. The BITSoM cohort typically includes a mix of fresh graduates and early-career professionals.

Ques. What is the BITSoM placement average?

Ans. In the 2025 placement season (batch 2023-25), BITSoM reported an average package of INR 21 LPA, a median of INR 20.52 LPA, and a highest package of INR 32.5 LPA. The top 50% of the batch averaged INR 25.64 LPA. Key recruiters include McKinsey, BCG, Accenture Strategy, EY, KPMG, ICICI Bank, and HUL. Note that BITSoM is a young institution and these figures are from institute-published reports, not independently verified.

Ques. How many essays are required for BITSoM MBA application?

Ans. BITSoM requires two mandatory essays as part of the MBA application. Essays are evaluated on clarity, structure, relevance, and writing quality. Strong essays can meaningfully improve shortlisting chances, especially for candidates who are borderline on test scores.

BITSOM: 1 Answered Question

Which MBA is better, IMT Ghaziabad (dual country course) or an MBA from BITSOM Mumbai?

Advait JoshiLives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Too close to call. Both are good choices to consider. On the other hand, if I have to take a call, I will most likely use BITSOM. Based on the below-mentioned reasons;

  1. Has a clear and compelling vision. aspires to be one of the best schools there is. Has aspirations on a worldwide scale.
  2. Has recruited highly qualified faculty and teams
  3. Very strongly supported
  4. Being open to making investments.

Therefore, it's possible that both will be tied in the short term, but I have a feeling that in the long run, BITSOM will pull ahead. The MBA, on the other hand, is strictly a long-term investment.
