● Top Answer By Sayan Dalal on 25 Sept 20

Ans. Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS), Mangalore has been ranked at number 6 for Dental by NIRF in 2019 and offers three popular courses in BDS, MDS, and PG Diploma. MCODS, Manipal on the other hand has been ranked at number 5 for Dental by NIRF in 2020 and offers popular programs in BDS and MDS. While both the institutions offer a great program in Dental sciences, let us take a look at some of the main features that set them apart: Admissions: Admission to both institutions is done on the basis of rank secured in NEET UG/ NEET MDS. One must have secured 50% marks in 12th with PCB and English as a compulsory subject. The total seats available for BDS at both campuses are 100. The fee structure at both campuses is also the same i.e. 26.40 Lakhs. Campus: MCODS Mangalore: The University is known to have some of the best facilities in terms of classrooms, teaching labs to a spacious and well-stocked library with all important resources and e-books. It has a CAD-CAM, digital X-Ray machine, and CBCTC scan to provide students with the best technological facilities available in the country. The hostel and mess facilities are good too, with a separate block for students from all departments. MCODS Manipal: It has high-speed internet access all across the campus and offers an outdoor sports complex and gymnasium. Students also have separate study rooms in the hostel as well as on-campus. Faculty: MCODS Mangalore: The University oversees some great and intellectual faculty members, some of who have also been part of the dental council of India. They are academic professionals with years of experience in dentistry. MCODS Manipal: The faculty at MCODS Manipal are known for being extremely professional and helpful to students and are available to solve any doubts or queries that they might have. Placements: The number of companies that visit dental institutions is low but students graduating from these colleges have a higher chance of getting admissions in a reputed university for their masters. Particulars MCODS Mangalore MCODS Manipal Average median salary 2.6 LPA 5 LPA Average stipend received 15,000 to 60,000 20,000 to 50,000 While both the institutions are great for BDS, students can make a more informed choice based on the given factors above.Read more

Course Curriculum Overview :

It fills up all the possible lacunae. The academic faculties are state of the art.The curriculum is rigorous, challenging and up-to-date.Recent advances in dentistry like cbct, implants, rotary Endodonctics are sensitised at an undergraduate level, unlike any other college.Needless to mention that half of the books we follow here at mcods are written by our in house faculties from mcods and kmc, that speeks a lot about the kind of experience and knowledge they have on their subjects.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Are course is upto the mark with Dental council of India. And if DCI facilitates any change in curriculum then our college makes the changes asap. Some of our teachers are very friendly and supportive but for the first years its difficult to access them because first years live in different campus than other students.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It is more on the expensive side. We pay around five lakhs and sixteen thousand every year which keeps increasing each year. This is just the tution fee. We all pay some fifty thousand to two lakh rupee for the hostel facility depending upon the type of room we're opting for

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is quite relevant and yes it is research driven and fair as there are no reservations. It has helped me become a better professional as there are students from every corner of the world studying here and it's equipped with latest machines and diagnostic aids which can't be found anywhere else in the country.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It is surely expensive, towards the higher side, as compared to other leading private colleges, but the facilities, faculty and learning make it worthy. It is definitely more than goverment colleges, we have to pay yearly

Course Curriculum Overview :

My college strictly follows the curriculum set by Dental Council of India. It is a five year course, four years and a year of paid internship. Exams are conducted like 3 sessionals and a final university exam, every year

Fee Structure And Facilities :

I would say that the fees right now is slightly more on the expensive side and since national banks do provide loans for college education,i suggest taking advantage of that..being a private university, the fees is more, but it is worth for what you are paying..but I will strongly suggest you to meet your national bank manager and talk to him or her about prospective loans...

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course we were taught was in line with the dental council of India prescribed norms..and our staff did their best, right from the first year to the last year..each year is targetted on specific section of dental medicine...the first year is totally dedicated to the basics of the human body, the second year is dedicated to pre clinical work wherein you would be trained to do basic dental treatments on models followed by third year where you would be apply whatever basics you learnt in second year in a real clinic environment supported by your staff..as final year approaches we do some more advanced treatment on patients..and ofcourse exams were to be given side by side..it will be an amazing experience..!! After you pass your final year exams, you get additional one year clinical training or house surgery program where you dedicate your entire one year in doing only clinical work..the college promotes research work immensely and the staff is always ready to guide you if you have any ideas..you will be given all due recognition ..
