See what Sapna Jha wants to say about college admission: I applied to this along with BPS Sonipat. I got selected in both. I preferred this due to its low fees and being close to my home along with a big hospital. The admission process is simple. You need to give OCET; after that u get a rank and apply for counseling, and if you get selected, then you get an admission. A safe ocet rank will be 50 to 200 to get in this college Click Here to know More

PGIMS Rohtak: 35 Answered Questions

Does PGIMS Rohtak have a bond for MBBS?

Suresh Lohia

yes, PGIMS Rohtak (Pt. B.D. Sharma PGIMS) does have a bond for MBBS students — it's the standard Haryana state rural service bond.

details of the bond:

  • after completing MBBS, students must serve in rural health centers/government hospitals in Haryana for 1 year (some years the policy specifies 2 years — check current Haryana Medical Council rules as this has changed)
  • penalty if you exit without completing: Rs.10-20 lakh (exact amount varies by year of admission cohort and current Haryana govt policy)
  • your degree/registration certificate may be withheld until bond service is completed or penalty paid
  • if you get a PG seat immediately after MBBS, the bond is typically deferred, not cancelled

what's specific to PGIMS Rohtak that most answers miss — PGIMS is a Haryana state government institution, so the bond is a state-level obligation enforced by the Haryana Medical Council. unlike some states where enforcement is lax, Haryana is relatively strict. always verify the exact current terms with the PGIMS admission office or Haryana Medical Council before joining, as bond terms can change between admission years.

Is PGIMS Rohtak good for the USMLE? Are there any students preparing for the USMLE at PGIMS Rohtak?

Sabeer Chalana
Kirti DasStudied at PGIMS

A medical college plays no role in your USMLE preparation. You have to chalk out the resources that work best for you and study with dedication. Focusing on your basics is important for your USMLE.

As far as PGIMS Rohtak is concerned, it is a reputed medical college. Students from this college have cleared their USMLE in the past. You’ll get good mentors at PGIMS.

But even students from lesser-known colleges clear their USMLE and secure a residency in the US. Some don’t even have any seniors for guidance. However, even without good mentors, the internet is always at one's disposal.

So basically, your effort alone will decide your USMLE success or failure.

What college should I choose, PGIMS Rohtak with the 40 lacs, 7 year bond or MLN Allahabad for an MBBS?

Sabeer Chalana
Tithi AggrawalLives in New Delhi

PGIMS is a top medical institute. It holds more prestige and popularity. But the recent bond condition has forced aspirants to choose other colleges instead.

PGIMS Rohtak has an upper hand in almost every other aspect. But in terms of the bond period, MLN Allahabad is much better. It has a bond period of 2 years against a compensation of Rs.10 Lakhs.

If the bond is a matter of deep concern to you, choose MLN Allahabad. It is a good college. But if you are more concerned about better facilities and opportunities, choose PGIMS Rohtak.

Which college is better, PGIMS Rohtak or UCMS?

Sapna Malik
Sanjana KapoorLives in New Delhi

As an alumnus of UCMS, I will shed some light on my college.

UCMS is one of the top 10 medical colleges in India. It falls under Delhi University. The academics are good, and the college fee is affordable. The campus is good too. Various college events are organized on a regular basis.

The seniors and faculty are very helpful. It is one of the major hospitals of East Delhi, so it has a lot of OPDs. The metro station is close by, so good connectivity is offered to other parts like Chandni Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, etc.

PGIMS Rohtak is the best medical college in Haryana. It has a very big campus and a lot of OPDs.

UCMS is a better choice. But if you wish to complete your degree from Haryana, you can choose PGIMS Rohtak.

Should I prefer ABVIMS and Dr. RML above AIIMS Jodhpur and PGIMS Rohtak?

Sapna Malik
Sanjana KapoorLives in New Delhi

As a student of ABVIMS, I find myself eligible to answer this question.

  1. PGIMS Rohtak- It has a very big campus and top-notch infrastructure. The college is well established. However, the location has comparatively less to offer.
  2. AIIMS Jodhpur- It offers the AIIMS tag. However, the location isn’t comparable to Delhi. Moreover, it isn’t on par with Delhi colleges. Getting a PG seat over here is difficult.
  3. ABVIMS and Dr. RMLH:
    1. ABVIMS is located in central Delhi (CP), so all the facilities are easily available.ABVIMS and Dr. RMLH is a brand of its own.
    2. The hospital is big in size, old, and very well-recognized. It is more famous and better than the hospitals of BSA, NDMC, UCMS, PGIMS Rohtak, AIIMS Jodhpur, and even MAMC.
    3. It falls under GGSIPU, so getting a PG seat is much easier than the other two.
    4. The infrastructure contains two new LTs, full-fledged laboratories, a sports complex, two super specialty blocks, etc.
    5. The faculty is picked from VMMC, MAMC, KGMU, LHMC, and ABVIMS itself.
    6. The PG and SS courses are better than those at VMMC, UCMS, LHMC, and even MAMC in some branches.
