I have got 16k rank in jee mains ( gen male). I have been allotted SPIT comp in mhtcet cap round. Can anyone suggest me a good NIT/IIIT with placement and coding culture better than SPIT. I am opting for only CSE and its related branches (AI, DS, MNC) in NIT and IIIT

We all wanted to be IITian... no matter what we say now that skills matter, NIT/IIT does make little difference, you have to work hard, you can succeed in life later...etc, etc... But that dream which we saw, it still hurts right? I don't know about you guys....but it will forever hurt me...like whenever someone will talk about IITs and all it will still hold same pain, even if I will do good later in life. It was my childhood dream.

Back in 10th grade, I had one dream — to get into IIT. I worked really hard and scored 80% in JEE Main (2020). That was during the COVID lockdown. Our board exams were about to end — just one last paper left — and then the government announced a sudden lockdown. Later, we wrote our PU exams. Since I got 80% in JEE, I considered taking a drop to try again. But I kept thinking, What if I don’t make it next time? So I joined a government diploma college in Computer Science, thinking it would be more affordable. During my 3rd and 4th semesters, I had college from 9 AM to 5 PM. After that, I used to prepare for JEE again, barely sleeping 4 hours a day —. It took a toll. I couldn’t balance both, and that’s when I came to know about GATE. During diploma, I stayed in a hostel where I met final-year B.Tech students from a reputed college. They were well-focused, motivated, and had strong placements. Some of them even landed jobs at companies like Mastercard, EY, etc. I looked up to them and thought — one day I’ll also be like them. But life had different plans. After completing diploma, I got into RV College for Electrical —. But it wasn’t in my hometown, and I was afraid I'd lose focus on GATE prep. So I stayed in my hometown and joined a local college in the ISE department. I worked hard again. But honestly, during my B.Tech, most of the students around me were very small-minded. None of them were serious about their career or future. Many just wanted to pass and leave — no passion, no ambition. It was hard to stay motivated in that environment. In my 3rd year, I qualified GATE — but the score wasn’t good enough to get into any IIT. So I decided to prepare again during my final year. But this time, I was mentally exhausted. I lacked consistency and unfortunately missed qualifying by just 1 mark —. My college had no real placements. The highest package was just 6 LPA, and the average was around 3 LPA. I didn’t get a good GATE score, and I didn’t get placed either. Every day, I feel like I made a mistake choosing this college. Most of my classmates got in through management quota, and here I am — still struggling, still hustling. From dreaming of IIT… To fighting through diploma… To qualifying GATE once… To missing it by 1 mark again… To watching placement opportunities slip away… Once a guy who dreamt big… is now struggling to get a job.

Hey, I got 99.5%ile in mains which gets me cs/ece in a decent NIT.. I am planning to pursue DSA in c++. I know the basics of c++, sorting, bitwise operations etc.. I was wondering whether i should join a DSA oriented batch such as ALPHA 7.0 or should I just learn from youtube (I like a structured approach slightly inclined towards a batch). It would be really awesome if you guys could drop some good resources and tips for me, thanks!!

I’m a diploma student from Maharashtra and I’m at a major decision point for my engineering journey. I’ve got the option to join **Ramdeobaba University (RBU), Nagpur** directly in 2nd year through lateral entry, but I’m also considering whether I should wait or try for **Mumbai or Pune colleges** like **COEP, VJTI, PICT, SPIT, PCCOE**, etc. **My main goal is to get placed in a good company through college and move abroad via that company.** I’m aiming for international exposure and a solid career path after BTech. I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions, and I’m confused about: 1. Does **RBU** offer enough placement opportunities with companies that offer international roles or chances to move abroad later? 2. Do colleges in Mumbai or Pune (COEP, VJTI, PICT) give a better platform for such companies and global exposure? 3. How much does the **college name** really affect your chances when applying for jobs abroad later on? 4. Should I stick with RBU and focus on CGPA + skills, or prepare for another **CET attempt** to target top-tier colleges? I want to make this decision smartly, not emotionally, and set my career up for moving abroad after BTech. If anyone has personal experience or any suggestions, please share. It’s stressing me out.

So, in total, I'm trying to manage **three major academic paths**: 1. My current college course (due to pressure ) 2. NIOS Board Exams (to be eligible for JEE Advanced and have a proper 12th mark sheet) 3. JEE 2026 (my main goal — I want to crack it seriously) 4. IITM BS Degree (which I genuinely find interesting but it's also demanding) # The Problem: * **Time management is a mess** — lectures from college + assignments from IITM + NIOS books + JEE prep. * **Mentally exhausted** — I can't even figure out where to begin or what to prioritize. * **No proper guidance** — Everyone around me is either confused about my decision or telling me to "just pick one thing." * I'm scared that if I keep doing all of them halfway, I'll fail at everything. # What I Need: * How do I **prioritize** and manage these things together without burning out? * Is anyone else here juggling multiple academic tracks like this? * Would it be wise to **pause** one of these (like IITM or college) to focus on JEE + NIOS? * Is it even **realistic** to do all 3 well? Any advice, frameworks, or personal stories would mean a lot. I'm motivated to study, but I need a **realistic, focused plan** or guidance from those who've been in similar situations. 96.9% in boards. Dropped a year for JEE Mains and failed. I have no interest in BTech tbh but can't move forward with what I have interest in due to personal reasons. So I've some plans 1) Take BTech Mechanical —> then GME / MTech or MBA from abroad/Top Indian schools 2) CSE BTech —> MBA from abroad or top Indian schools I might get Govt engineering college of Kerala for Mech or CSE in not so bad aided colleges. Or the option I've left is LPU and other private universities. On the basis of my 12 score, I'm able to get BTech in Mech at LPU for 42k/sem and CSE for 56k/sem which seems so cheap compared to any other private colleges. I'm really stuck here. What should I do? Apart from placement, I really need startup exposure and great college life

So, here I got 110 merit rank in LEEP (Lateral Entry in Engineering Program) counselling, which is basically for diploma holders to pursue BTech through lateral entry. This year more than 7k+ applicants applied (including diploma and degree (graduation) holders from Pan India)... among which I got 110 rank. Decent huh?? Yes it is. With this rank I could get admission in any branch and any reputed government college... like MBM, CTAE, RTU, GECA etc... except (CE-MBM, EE-MBM, CSE-MBM). Okay so in counselling I applied MBM-EE as my first choice and then followed by BTU-EE, ECB-EE, CTAE-EE, GECA-EE (respectively)... I was damn sure I could get any college and branch if I choose after MBM-EE as 2nd preference... but I chose BTU-EE. When some of my mates, even my HOD and lecturers, got to know about this they were literally like.. You could join MBM-EEE (Closing Rank - 137), RTU-EE (Closing Rank - 164), CTAE-EE (Closing Rank - 144), GECA-EE (Closing Rank - 171) or even MBM - Mining or Petroleum (these both branches have average placement of 16 LPA)... but I chose BTU-EE which other students choose as their last option... even every year seats get vacant in BTU... no placement records... So here's the reason... nowadays no faculty is paying attention to students and colleges like MBM and RTU are famous for their students... who generally are good in studies (makes a good environment for study... that’s why I chose it as my first preference)... but their colleges are also well known for their politics... casteism happens... everyday controversy... And BTU was the best option for me 'cause as we know seats get vacant... no crowding... no politics... get sufficient time for studies... And placement can be cracked on own off campus... and you know what... college is known by their students those who study well can crack placement, if students are not good enough, college will be defamed... At the end, it’s not about where you studied, it’s about what you studied, how deeply you did, and how well you performed..... A diamond doesn't lose its value based on where it's found. Same goes for students...
