Sulfur is a polyatomic molecule, made up of 8 atoms of sulfur. S8 or sulfur exist in nature in 2 states namely – monoclinic sulphur and rhombic sulphur.

  • The molar mass of a substance can be understood as the mass of 1 mole of any given substance.
  • It is calculated by adding the masses of all atoms present in a molecule.

The atomic mass of sulfur atom = 32 u

The molar mass of rhombic sulphur, S8 = 32 × 8 = 256g.

Therefore, the molar mass of sulfur (S8) is 256g.
