MCAT Score Report Fee 2027

Understanding the fees for sending your MCAT scores is important when applying to medical schools.

  • MCAT score reporting: MCAT scores are automatically released to AMCAS, except for exams that candidates voided.
  • AMCAS application fee: USD 180 (₹17,237), including one medical-school designation.
  • Additional medical schools: USD 48 (₹4,597) per additional designation.
  • Non-AMCAS institutions: Scores can be shared electronically with participating institutions through AAMC's Score Reporting System at no additional charge. Check the individual institution's requirements before applying.

Note: Not all medical schools use AMCAS, so you may need to send scores separately; always check each school’s requirements.

Additional Costs of Taking the MCAT for Indian Students in 2027

Indian students planning to take the MCAT should budget for the international testing fee and any applicable taxes, in addition to the standard registration fee.

  • International testing fee: USD 130 (₹12,449). This fee applies to testing outside the US, Canada, and US territories and is non-refundable.
  • Applicable taxes: Depending on the test location, sales tax, VAT, GST, or similar taxes may be collected during scheduling.
  • Travel and accommodation: Students travelling outside India for the exam should budget separately for flights, accommodation, local transport and meals.
  • Rescheduling costs: If students need to change their test date or test centre, AAMC charges a fee based on how far in advance the change is made. Check the official fee schedule before making changes.

The MCAT cost for Indian students is more than just the basic fee, with extra charges for rescheduling, applications, and travel. Planning early and understanding all costs can help avoid unnecessary expenses.

FAQs

Ques. Can Indian students get financial help for MCAT fees?

Ans. The AAMC Fee Assistance Program helps eligible applicants reduce MCAT and medical school application costs. Eligibility depends on AAMC's current requirements, including financial criteria and US-based address requirements. Indian students living in India should review the official eligibility rules before applying.

Ques. Is it cheaper to take the MCAT in India or abroad?

Ans. The MCAT is not offered in India for the 2027 testing year, so Indian students must travel to an available international test centre. The standard registration fee is USD 360, plus a non-refundable USD 130 international fee for testing outside the US, Canada, and US territories. Travel, accommodation, and other expenses depend on the destination.

Ques. Can I choose when to send my MCAT scores to colleges?

Ans. MCAT scores are automatically released to AMCAS, except for exams you voided. For medical schools that do not use AMCAS, you can share scores through the AAMC Score Reporting System at no additional charge. Check each institution's application requirements before submitting scores, as score-sharing requests cannot be withdrawn once sent.

Ques. Are there extra bank or transaction charges while paying from India?

Ans. Your bank or card provider may charge foreign transaction or currency conversion fees when you pay the MCAT registration fee in US dollars. These charges are separate from AAMC fees and depend on your card provider's terms. Check with your bank before making payment.
