Class 8 Mathematics Chapter 16 Playing with Numbers – Important Topics

Even Number: Even numbers are those numbers that can be divided into two equal groups. An even number is a number which is divisible by 2.

Odd Number: Odd numbers are those numbers that cannot be divided into two equal groups. An odd number is a number that is not divisible by 2.

Zero is considered to be an even number because it is an integer multiple of 2, that is, 0 x 2 = 0.

Prime Number: A prime number refers to a positive integer that has two of the same factors. If p is a prime, then the only factors it can have are 1 and p itself.

Composite Number: A composite number has more factors other than 1 and the number itself.

1 is neither a prime nor a composite number.
