Note: In 2025-26, Session I registration opened in October 2025 with a last date of January 31, 2026. The theory exam ran from April 10 to May 6, 2026, and the result came out in June 2026 with a 66.92% pass rate.

NIOS Class X 2027: Eligibility Criteria

What Happens if You Fail in One or More Subjects?

If you fail in 1 or 2 subjects, you do not need to re-register. The credit for subjects you passed carries forward automatically. You can appear for failed subjects in the next session (main exam) or through the On Demand Examination (ODE) without any fresh registration fee for those subjects.

NIOS gives you up to 9 years from your initial enrollment date to complete all 5 subjects. This 9-year window removes the panic of having to clear everything in one go. NIOS also allows Improvement Exams — if you are unhappy with your grade in a passed subject, you can appear again in the next session to improve it, and the higher score counts.

NIOS Class X On Demand Examination (ODE) 2027

Not every NIOS Secondary subject is available under ODE. Subjects that have a significant practical component (such as Science and Technology) may only be cleared in the main session because the practical exam is conducted at the AI. This certificate is recognised by all central and state government departments, banks, railways, universities, and higher secondary schools across India.

Migration Certificate

If you want to join Class XI in a regular recognised school or college after passing NIOS Class X 2027, you will need a Migration Certificate from NIOS. Apply for it through the NIOS student portal after your result is declared. The Migration Certificate confirms your shift from NIOS to another board for further education.

Duplicate Marksheet or Certificate

NIOS Class X 2027: Preparation Tips

Preparing for NIOS Class X 2027 requires self-discipline more than anything else. NIOS gives you months between registration and the exam, and all study material is provided free. Here are practical tips to help you make the most of that flexibility.

1. Use NIOS Study Material First — Always

NIOS writes its own textbooks for every Secondary subject. The theory exam is strictly based on this material. Download all your subject books from the official NIOS website before spending money on third-party guides. The NIOS lessons are written for self-study and break complex topics into simple, step-by-step explanations.

2. Submit All TMAs on Time and Seriously

TMA (Tutor Marked Assignment) contributes 20 marks per subject. These are marks you can secure before entering the exam hall. Write your TMA answers in your own words — original, thoughtful responses get full marks from AI tutors. Do not copy answers directly from the textbook. Submit all 3 assignments per subject well before the last date set by your AI — late submission can stop you from appearing in the theory exam.

3. Build a Monthly Subject Schedule

With 5 subjects and 6-7 months between registration and the theory exam, you have roughly 5-6 weeks per subject if you study one at a time. Instead, spread subjects across the week: study 2 subjects Monday to Wednesday, 2 subjects Thursday to Saturday, and use Sunday for revision. Set a monthly checkpoint — complete at least 2 chapters per subject per month.

4. Solve Previous Year Question Papers
