Most of the courses at UDE begin in both Summer and Winter terms. Master’s programs and International Studies in Engineering has its own application deadlines and can be found in their respective websites. The general period for application is given below,
International students go through similar procedures as native applicants. Foreign applicants must obtain a German Student visa before studies at UDE.
The language of instruction at the University of Duisburg-Essen is German, including for some of the International English programs. All the students, thus, have to show a language proficiency of level B1 in German and in English. Master’s programs may ask for the proficiency of B2 or better depending on the course of selection and this can be found on the University website. The minimum requirement of English language proficiency, for the admission of most of the Undergraduate courses, is given below:

As per 2019 statistics, 42294 students are enrolled in 247-degree programs. There are several English-taught courses for International students on subjects ranging from Humanities, Education, Social Science to Engineering, Medicine, Natural Science, and Economics. International applicants are required to fulfill English language requirements for international programs and German language requirements for other courses.
