    With an enrolment of about 17,500 students, Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg has an acceptance rate of about 55%, making it quite competitive for students to get into. The applicant must be way above the average requirements of the university to get direct admission into the university. At present, the institute is offering education to over 20,000 students.     Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg International Student Admissions

    English taught courses at Martin Luther are limited, however, students may choose to enroll in one of the few completely English taught courses of the university, which includes subjects like BSc Business Economics, BSc Fundamental Economics and Management, MSc HR Management, and more. To apply as an international student, the applicant must meet the following prerequisites.

    Language Proficiency for International Students

    Due to COVID-19, Martin Luther is now accepting the following minimum test score requirements from international students for the English taught courses. It is mandatory for all international applicants to submit language proficiency documents to the university, to be accepted. The minimum requirements include

    Visa Process for International Students

    All international students, coming from out the European Union, would require a residence permit, if they wish to stay in the country for a duration longer than 3 months. The student must begin by,

    Applying for a student visa to the German Embassy /Consulate in their home country or in the country where they have a residence permit. Upon acceptance of the following, the student would have three months to apply for the residence permit (for the duration of your study stay) to the local foreigners’ authority. The required documents for a residence permit are,

    • Fully completed and signed application form
    • Biometric photograph
    • Certificate of registration with the city of Halle
    • Proof of the purpose
    • Proof of adequate health insurance
    • Proof of sufficient financial resources

    The students must submit an authenticated hard copy of a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree (graduation certificate and transcripts) and authenticate, official translations unless the originals are in English or in German. The university has postponed the dates for all the programs due to COVID-19, so the applicant may fill in the applications accordingly. Other programs may have additional requirements as well, including, CV, Work experience, Letter of Motivation, etc. Students must check the specific program requirements before applying.

    Ans. For all international students, whose documents are not in English/German, will need to get them translated from a certified institution and submit the same with their original transcripts.

    Ques. When should I apply as an International student?

    Ans. It is recommended that the student apply as soon as possible, to have enough time for the application approval as well as the visa application formalities.

    Ques. How do we submit the other documents?

    Ans. The other documents of the student, i.e., the program-specific requirements like CV, Letter of Motivation, etc., can be uploaded to the students’ my assist profile directly, there is no need for hard copies of the same.
