Technical University of Braunschweig Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Technical University of Braunschweig admission requirements for Indian applicants combine academic eligibility, English or German proficiency, and APS certification. Uni-assist verifies all Indian credentials before the university acts on the application.

Master’s Requirements at Technical University of Braunschweig

  • Bachelor’s degree: Four-year Indian Bachelor’s in the target discipline with a minimum 65% aggregate or CGPA 6.5/10 (recommended). Three-year Bachelor’s holders may need a bridging course.
  • English proficiency (English-taught Master’s): Programme-specific TOEFL and IELTS minimums. Verify at the official English language page. Waiver possible for applicants with an English-medium Bachelor’s degree.
  • APS certification: Compulsory for all Indian degree holders. Submit original mark sheets and degree certificates to the APS office in New Delhi.
  • Programme-specific tests: No GRE requirement for standard tracks. Quantum Technologies and Data Science expect strong quantitative background evidence.

Bachelor’s Requirements at Technical University of Braunschweig

  • Class 12 aggregate: 75% to 85% (recommended) in a science stream for restricted-admission programmes such as Psychology and Biology.
  • German proficiency: TestDaF 4, DSH 2 or telc Deutsch C1 for German-taught undergraduate programmes.
  • Feststellungsprüfung (Studienkolleg): Indian applicants with a three-year Bachelor’s or a non-recognised Class 12 must complete a Studienkolleg year before enrolment.

Key insight: Indian applicants with a four-year B.Tech or B.E. degree can skip the Studienkolleg year entirely. However, three-year B.Sc. or B.Com graduates need either a completed one-year Master’s in India or a Studienkolleg pathway before direct enrolment.

Technical University of Braunschweig Acceptance Rate 2027

The Technical University of Braunschweig acceptance rate sits between 30% and 40% (estimated). TU Braunschweig does not publish an official acceptance rate, and the estimate is derived from programme-mix analysis across restricted and unrestricted Master’s tracks.

Restricted-admission programmes such as Psychology, Pharmacy and Biology carry lower effective admit rates than open-enrolment Bachelor’s tracks. English-taught Master’s programmes such as Data Science and Quantum Technologies see selective batches drawn from strong quantitative applicant pools.

Reality check: The overall band understates competition at the programme level. Indian applicants targeting Data Science or Computer Science Master’s should assume tighter effective admit rates given large international applicant pools each cycle.

Technical University of Braunschweig Campus, Facilities and Student Life

Technical University of Braunschweig operates a single main campus in central Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, within walking distance of the city centre and main train station.

  • Location and transport: Braunschweig sits on the Hanover-Berlin ICE line, with a 40-minute rail link to Hanover and two-hour link to Berlin. The semester ticket covers unlimited local and regional trains across Lower Saxony.
  • Housing: Studentenwerk Ostniedersachsen manages roughly 3,000 dorm beds. Indian first-years should apply before arrival; guaranteed international housing is not offered.
  • Research facilities: The campus hosts the Research Airport Braunschweig for aerospace projects and shares infrastructure with the DLR, Fraunhofer and PTB institutes.
  • Indian student community: Roughly 3,000 international students, with a growing Indian cohort around Computer Science, Automotive, and CSE tracks. The Indian Student Association organises Diwali and Republic Day events on campus.

What Indian students say: Braunschweig feels quieter than Berlin or Munich but far cheaper on rent. Access to Volkswagen internships in Wolfsburg (30 minutes by train) is a real draw for Automotive and Mechanical Master’s students.

Technical University of Braunschweig Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

Technical University of Braunschweig does not run centralised campus placements in the Indian sense. Career outcomes for Indian graduates depend on individual internship pipelines with Volkswagen, Continental, and aerospace employers based nearby.

  • Employment outcomes: Not officially disclosed by TU Braunschweig; verify at the official career portal.
  • Median PG STEM starting salary in Germany: € 48,000 to € 55,000 per year (₹ 52.8 lakh to ₹ 60.5 lakh) — market median for engineering and computer science Master’s graduates.
  • Recruiter sectors: Automotive (Volkswagen headquartered in Wolfsburg, Continental), Aerospace (DLR, Airbus supply chain), IT services, and public research institutes (Fraunhofer, PTB, Helmholtz).
  • Post-study work visa: Germany grants an 18-month post-study job-seeker visa for Master’s graduates, extendable via Blue Card if a job offer meets the salary threshold.
  • Career services: Karriereservice offers CV clinics, targeted career fairs, and mentoring workshops throughout the academic year.

Insider note: Indian Master’s graduates in Automotive Engineering routinely land internships at Volkswagen Wolfsburg during their fourth semester. This internship is the single strongest lead-in to a Blue Card offer post-graduation.

Technical University of Braunschweig vs Peer Universities

Technical University of Braunschweig sits mid-band among TU9 alliance peers on QS Rankings, with a clear cost advantage over private and non-EU-tuition-charging German universities. The comparison below spans TU9 peers and a Lower Saxony neighbour.

UniversityQS Rank 2027Collegedunia Study AbroadSemester Contribution (EUR/INR)Differentiator

Leibniz University HannoverVerify at QS 2027Verify on Collegedunia€ 470 / ₹ 51,700 per semesterSame Lower Saxony region, joint research ecosystem

Technical University of Braunschweig stands out for its proximity to the Wolfsburg automotive cluster and its dedicated Research Airport, which few peers match. Its semester contribution mirrors the Lower Saxony baseline; deeper cost savings appear only at KIT or TU Dresden.

Technical University of Braunschweig fits Indian applicants targeting a low-cost Master’s in Automotive, Aerospace, or Data Science with clear access to Volkswagen and Continental internship pipelines. Total two-year investment sits near ₹ 28 lakh against a median STEM starting salary of ₹ 57.2 lakh in Germany, and the 18-month post-study job-seeker visa gives a real runway to convert internships into Blue Card offers, as outlined on the study in Germany guide.

The university is not the right fit for applicants seeking English-taught Bachelor’s programmes, a business or MBA focus, or a top-100 QS brand. Candidates prioritising those factors should look at RWTH Aachen for engineering brand strength and TU Munich for QS top-25 recognition.

Technical University of Braunschweig FAQs

Ques. Which English-taught Master’s programmes does Technical University of Braunschweig offer?

Ans. TU Braunschweig runs four fully English-taught Master’s programmes for international applicants. These are the M.Sc. Data Science, M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence for Molecular Sciences, M.Sc. Quantum Technologies in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and M.Sc. Solar System Physics. The Computational Sciences in Engineering (CSE) Master’s is bilingual and accepts English proficiency proof alongside German proof. All other Master’s programmes are taught in German.

Ques. How can Indian applicants get an IELTS waiver at TU Braunschweig?

Ans. Indian applicants with an English-medium Bachelor’s degree from a recognised Indian university may request an IELTS waiver at TU Braunschweig. Submit a signed medium-of-instruction letter from the previous university, a transcript showing English as the language of instruction, and the syllabus in English. Waiver approval sits with the individual programme coordinator, not the international office. Verify at the official English language page before assuming a waiver applies.

Ques. What documents does Technical University of Braunschweig accept for APS certification?

Ans. Technical University of Braunschweig requires an APS certificate for every Indian applicant. The APS Delhi office issues the certificate after reviewing original mark sheets, degree certificates, migration certificate, and Class 10 and 12 mark sheets. Applicants should also submit a scanned passport copy and application fee proof. Processing takes six to twelve weeks. Uni-assist will not verify Indian credentials without a valid APS certificate on file.

Ques. Does TU Braunschweig charge an application fee for Indian students?

Ans. TU Braunschweig itself does not charge a direct application fee, but Indian applicants pay uni-assist verification fees. The uni-assist fee is € 75 (₹ 8,250) for the first programme and € 30 (₹ 3,300) per additional programme in the same semester. APS certification fees are separate and paid to the APS office in New Delhi. There is no fee waiver policy for Indian applicants at uni-assist.

Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at Technical University of Braunschweig?

Ans. Yes, Indian students on a German study visa can work part-time at TU Braunschweig. The federal rule allows 140 full days or 280 half days per calendar year without requiring additional permits. Working as a HiWi (student research assistant) inside the university does not count against these limits. Braunschweig hourly wages range between € 12 and € 15 for student jobs, and Wolfsburg automotive internships pay more.

Ques. Which Indian education loan providers recognise Technical University of Braunschweig?

Ans. Most major Indian public and private banks recognise TU Braunschweig for education loans. HDFC Credila, SBI Global Ed-Vantage, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and Prodigy Finance all extend loans to TU Braunschweig admits. Public banks typically fund up to ₹ 20 lakh unsecured and ₹ 40 lakh with collateral. NBFCs such as Avanse and InCred fund higher amounts against strong co-applicant profiles. Loan disbursement follows admission letter and blocked-account setup.

Ques. What financial proof does the German student visa require for TU Braunschweig applicants?

Ans. The German student visa requires proof of € 11,904 per year (₹ 13.09 lakh) in a blocked account for TU Braunschweig applicants. This 2026 threshold covers the first year of living costs. Approved providers include Deutsche Bank, Coracle, Expatrio, and Fintiba. Alternative proofs are a formal scholarship award letter or a signed sponsorship declaration (Verpflichtungserklärung) from a German resident. VFS Global processes Indian visa appointments.

Ques. Does Technical University of Braunschweig offer conditional admission for pending Bachelor’s transcripts?

Ans. Yes, Technical University of Braunschweig can issue conditional admission for Master’s applicants whose final Bachelor’s transcript is pending. Applicants must submit provisional mark sheets covering at least six of eight semesters plus a letter from the previous university confirming expected graduation date. Final admission converts to unconditional only after the final degree certificate and APS certificate reach uni-assist. Trigger for conditional offers is programme-specific, so verify at the programme coordinator’s page.
