Every enrolled student pays a flat semester contribution that funds administration, student services, and the regional Deutschlandticket for public transport across Lower Saxony. The amount is revised each semester and applies uniformly across all masters programmes.
Popular TU Braunschweig Postgraduate Courses and Fees for Indian Students 2027
The masters listed below are the most-applied programmes among Indian students. All are two-year (four-semester) full-time degrees. The semester contribution multiplied by four gives the total programme outlay.

Popular TU Braunschweig Undergraduate Courses and Fees for Indian Students 2027
Bachelor’s programmes are largely taught in German and less common among Indian applicants. Class 12 grades and German language proficiency drive eligibility.
| Program | Language | Semester Contribution (EUR) | Semester Contribution (INR lakh) | Entry Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B.Sc. Computer Science | German | EUR 880/semester (Winter 2026/27) | 0.85 lakh | Class 12 with 75% to 85% (recommended); German C1 required |

| B.Sc. Business Information Systems | German | EUR 880/semester (Winter 2026/27) | 0.85 lakh | Class 12 with 70% to 85% (recommended); German C1 required |
| B.Sc. Biotechnology | German | EUR 880/semester (Winter 2026/27) | 0.85 lakh | Class 12 with 70% to 85% (recommended); German C1 required |
Insider note: Indian applicants cluster in the four English-taught engineering masters. Direct Class 12 bachelor’s entry rarely works because Indian secondary schooling is treated as one year short; most bachelor’s applicants complete a Studienkolleg preparatory year first.
Technische Universität Braunschweig Admission 2027
TU Braunschweig runs two intakes per year, and Winter Semester (October) is the primary application window for Indian engineering masters. Applicants submit documents through uni-assist for credential verification before the university reviews the file.
TU Braunschweig PG Admission Dates 2027
Deadlines vary by programme category. Restricted-admission masters such as Computer Science and Aerospace Engineering close earlier than unrestricted programmes.
| Milestone | Date | Notes for Indian Applicants |
|---|---|---|
| Summer 2027 international deadline (restricted PG) | 15 January 2027 (Expected, based on 2026 cycle) | Applies only to selected masters accepting Summer entry |
| Winter 2027/28 international deadline (all PG) | 15 July 2027 (Expected, based on 2026 cycle) | Primary intake for Indian engineering applicants |
| APS certification lead time | Start 8 to 12 weeks before deadline | Mandatory for all Indian degree holders |
| uni-assist processing lead time | Submit 6 to 8 weeks before deadline | Preliminary review before university receives file |
| Programme start (Winter 2027/28) | October 2027 | Orientation held one week before lectures begin |
Planning note: Indian applicants typically underestimate the APS certification window. Begin the APS application right after Bachelor’s final semester results are declared, since the certificate is a hard prerequisite before uni-assist accepts the file.

Technische Universität Braunschweig Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Indian applicants must clear both academic and language thresholds before uni-assist forwards the file for programme-level review.
TU Braunschweig PG Requirements for Indian Students
- Academic: Four-year Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 60% or CGPA 6.5/10 (recommended); competitive programmes such as Aerospace Engineering expect 65% or CGPA 7.0/10.
- English proficiency: IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each band, or TOEFL iBT B2 (1-6 scale) / 88 (0-120 legacy scale), or an equivalent accepted certificate.
- Credential verification: APS certificate from the German Embassy in New Delhi is mandatory; uni-assist VPD is also required for most masters.
- Programme-specific: German-taught masters require German B2 or C1; some engineering masters require a preliminary interview or motivation letter.
TU Braunschweig UG Requirements for Indian Students
- Academic: Class 12 with 70% to 85% (recommended) plus one year of recognised university study in India, or completion of a German Studienkolleg preparatory year.
- Language: German C1 (TestDaF 4 or DSH-2) for most bachelor’s programmes; English test only where the programme is English-taught.
Note: IELTS 6.5 is the university-wide floor, but Computer Science and Data Science reviewers weigh the Quantitative section of past academic transcripts more heavily than the language score itself. A strong Mathematics record can offset a modest bachelor’s percentage.
Technische Universität Braunschweig Acceptance Rate 2027
TU Braunschweig does not publish an official acceptance rate. Based on programme-level admission statistics reported through uni-assist channels, the overall international masters acceptance rate is 20-30% (estimated). The figure varies widely by programme.
Competitive masters such as Computer Science and Aerospace Engineering are restricted-admission (NC-restricted), meaning offers are ranked by bachelor’s grade. Unrestricted programmes such as Environmental Engineering admit every applicant who clears the minimum threshold, effectively raising the acceptance rate.
Reality check: Indian applicants with a first-class bachelor’s degree (65% and above) and IELTS 7.0 face favourable odds for the English-taught engineering masters. The rejection risk is concentrated at document verification, not academic review.

Technische Universität Braunschweig Campus, Facilities and Student Life
Braunschweig is a mid-sized Lower Saxony city with a compact central campus and satellite science quarters at Riddagshausen and the Research Airport.
- Location and transport: Central campus is a 12-minute walk from Braunschweig Hauptbahnhof; the semester Deutschlandticket covers all city buses, trams and regional trains including trips to Hannover and Wolfsburg.
- Housing: Studierendenwerk halls guarantee capacity for roughly 15% of international students; private WG shared flats cover the rest at EUR 350 to EUR 500 per month.
- Notable facility: The Research Airport hosts the Institute of Aircraft Design and Lightweight Structures, giving Aerospace Engineering students direct access to wind tunnels and test rigs.
- Indian community: Around 500 Indian students are enrolled at any time, with active Indian Students Association events at Diwali and Holi, plus a well-established alumni network at Volkswagen Wolfsburg.
What Indian students say: Braunschweig is quieter than Berlin or Munich, but that keeps rent low and helps first-semester students focus on German language classes. Wolfsburg is a 20-minute train ride away, so working-student roles at Volkswagen Group are realistic without moving cities.
Technische Universität Braunschweig Scholarships 2027
TU Braunschweig offers a small number of university-administered scholarships. Indian applicants also draw heavily on external DAAD and Erasmus-linked funding.
| Scholarship | Type | Award Value | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deutschlandstipendium | Merit | EUR 300/month (INR 28,950/month) | All enrolled students with strong academic record | 15 October 2026 (Expected, based on 2025 cycle) |
| STIBET Degree Completion Grant | Need-based | Up to EUR 1,000 (INR 96,500) | International students in final thesis semester | Rolling; verify at official page |
| DAAD WISE Scholarship | Research | EUR 934/month (INR 90,131/month) plus travel allowance | Indian undergraduate summer research interns | 15 December 2026 (Expected, based on 2025 cycle) |
[Source: TU Braunschweig International Office and DAAD India]
Planning note: Deutschlandstipendium success rates hover in the single digits, and most awards go to students already enrolled for one semester. Indian applicants should treat it as a second-year top-up, not a first-year funding plan.

Technische Universität Braunschweig Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
TU Braunschweig does not publish a central placement report; graduate outcomes flow through the Career Service and departmental industry partners rather than campus placement rounds.
- Median MS starting salary: EUR 55,000 (INR 53.1 lakh) per year across engineering masters (market median for Lower Saxony graduate hires).
- Top recruiting sectors: Automotive at Volkswagen and Continental, aerospace at Airbus and DLR, ICT at Siemens and Bosch, and biotech at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research.
- Post-study work: Germany grants an 18-month job seeker visa after graduation; the EU Blue Card follows once salary crosses EUR 45,300 (INR 43.7 lakh).
- Career support: Career Service runs weekly recruitment fairs, CV reviews in English and German, and dedicated Volkswagen Wolfsburg working-student postings for masters students.
- Indian alumni: Alumni hold senior engineering roles at Volkswagen Wolfsburg, Continental Hanover, and Airbus Bremen; the Indian Alumni Chapter meets twice a year in Braunschweig and Berlin.
Insider note: Indian graduates who clear German B1 by the end of the second semester triple their interview conversion rate for full-time roles. English-only candidates land offers at DLR and Airbus but rarely at Volkswagen or Bosch.
Technische Universität Braunschweig vs Peer Universities
The peer set covers TU9 alliance members and one strong non-TU9 technical university to give Indian applicants an honest read on positioning.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Collegedunia Study Abroad 2026 | Avg Annual PG Fee | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TU Braunschweig | #781-790 | #314 | EUR 1,760 (INR 1.7 lakh) | Strongest aerospace subject rank in TU9 |
| RWTH Aachen | #99 | NA | EUR 1,200 (INR 1.2 lakh) | Top TU9 for mechanical and materials |
| TU Munich | #22 | NA | EUR 258 (INR 24,900) plus tuition for non-EU | Highest QS rank in Germany |
| KIT Karlsruhe | #93 | NA | EUR 3,000 (INR 2.9 lakh) with non-EU tuition | Nuclear and energy specialisation |
| TU Berlin | #160 | NA | EUR 660 (INR 63,690) | Capital city recruiter access |
| TU Dortmund | #651-660 | NA | EUR 620 (INR 59,830) | Data science and logistics focus |
TU Braunschweig stands out for Indian applicants who prioritise aerospace and automotive research access over the QS headline rank. Direct pipelines to Volkswagen Wolfsburg and Airbus Bremen make it a stronger practical choice than similarly-ranked universities in expensive cities.
Technische Universität Braunschweig fits Indian applicants who plan a career in aerospace, automotive, or computer science and value hands-on lab access over a top-100 QS badge. Total two-year outlay of INR 18.6 lakh against a median EUR 55,000 (INR 53.1 lakh) starting salary makes payback realistic within the 18-month post-study visa window.
TU Braunschweig is not the pick for applicants chasing global brand ranking or an English-only city lifestyle. Those targeting the former should look at TU Munich; those needing large Indian metropolitan communities should compare with TU Berlin.
Technische Universität Braunschweig FAQs
Ques. Which English-taught masters does TU Braunschweig offer for Indian students?
Ans. TU Braunschweig offers fully English-taught masters in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Biotechnology, Sustainable Energy Systems, Data Science and Environmental Engineering. Mechanical Engineering is offered as a bilingual programme where core lectures are English but electives may require German B1. Bachelor’s programmes remain German-taught, so Indian applicants without German C1 should target masters entry.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at TU Braunschweig?
Ans. Yes, German student visa rules allow Indian students to work 140 full days or 280 half days per calendar year. Working-student roles at Volkswagen Wolfsburg, Continental and Siemens pay EUR 15 to EUR 22 per hour, and campus HiWi assistantships pay EUR 12.50 per hour. Working hours cannot exceed 20 per week during teaching semesters.
Ques. Does TU Braunschweig waive IELTS for Indian applicants with English-medium degrees?
Ans. TU Braunschweig accepts a Medium of Instruction certificate for waiver consideration only when the Indian bachelor’s degree was fully English-taught and the university explicitly confirms it in writing on official letterhead. Most Indian universities issue such letters on request. Programmes such as Data Science and Computer Science still recommend an IELTS or TOEFL score to strengthen the file.
Ques. What is the application fee for Technische Universität Braunschweig?
Ans. TU Braunschweig itself does not charge an application fee. Indian applicants pay uni-assist EUR 75 for the first programme and EUR 30 for each additional programme in the same semester for credential evaluation. The APS certificate from the German Embassy in New Delhi costs USD 30 and is separate from the uni-assist fee.
Ques. Which Indian banks offer education loans for TU Braunschweig?
Ans. SBI, HDFC Credila, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda and ICICI Bank recognise TU Braunschweig as an approved German university for education loans up to INR 40 lakh. The TU9 alliance status often qualifies applicants for lower interest tier pricing. Non-collateral loans up to INR 20 lakh are common for admitted students with a strong bachelor’s record.
Ques. How does the German blocked account work for TU Braunschweig applicants?
Ans. Indian applicants must deposit EUR 11,904 for the 2027 cycle in a German blocked account with providers such as Fintiba, Expatrio or Deutsche Bank. The amount funds one year of living expenses and unlocks EUR 992 per month after arrival. The blocked account confirmation is a mandatory visa document at the New Delhi consulate interview.
Ques. What is the APS certification process for Indian TU Braunschweig applicants?
Ans. APS certification runs through the German Embassy in New Delhi and involves document verification plus a short interview. Applicants submit transcripts, degree certificates and identity proof, then attend a 15-minute interview covering academic background. The certificate takes 8 to 12 weeks and is valid until the student completes the applied degree in Germany.
Ques. Does TU Braunschweig provide accommodation for international students?
Ans. Studierendenwerk OstNiedersachsen operates halls of residence for TU Braunschweig students at EUR 260 to EUR 380 per month. Rooms are not guaranteed, and international students must apply separately once the admission letter arrives. Private WG shared flats cost EUR 350 to EUR 500 per month and are the most common alternative for Indian students.
