An official notice from the AICTE cautions the students of Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir regarding admissions into technical institutions functioning in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
As they are not recognised by the Government of India, students should not seek admission in such colleges for studying architecture, engineering, town planning, hotel management, applied arts, crafts, computer applications and management.
The notice appeared soon after the Centre declared admissions for students in J&K. For now, there are many institutes illegally operating in PoK which are not approved by AICTE.
The official notice as presented by Member Secretary of AICTE suggests that Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is integral to India. The universities including medical and technical institutions in PoK are not established by the Indian government.
Further, they are not approved by any statutory board such as UGC (University Grants Commission), MCI (Medical Council of India) and AICTE. AICTE took to its Twitter account to officially notify the students of Jammu and Kashmir and the union territory of Ladakh.
The official notice also clarifies that regulatory bodies under the government of India have issued advisories for the territory illegally occupied by Pakistan. This even includes Baltistan, Gilgit and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK).
