Assam: Class 10 Exam to be held in March 2021, Informs SEBA Chairman

Class 10 state board exams will be conducted in March 2021 informed RC Jain, chairman of Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA). The state board has already reduced the syllabus by 30% for Class 9 and 10 students. Due to this decision, SEBA is not planning any further postponement of the exam. 

SEBA conducts the Class 10 state board exams in the month of February. After CBSE begins the online filling up of the forms, SEBA released an official notice stating that High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) online forms and Assam High Madrassa (AHM) examinations can be submitted from November 2, 2020, to November 23, 2020.

RC Jain said, “The upcoming Class 10 state board exams in Assam will be held on time. Like the CBSE, we have also decided to accept the forms digitally.”

He further stated that the SEBA is carefully monitoring the Covid-19 situation to take appropriate steps to hold the exams. According to the official data, this year around, 3.5 Lakh students appeared in the Class 10 state board exams.

Generally, regular classes for 10th board students are completed by November because students use the remaining time for self-study. Although, due to the academic losses during the COVID-19 pandemic, the board has decided to continue offline classes till February this year.

Due to the ongoing situation, parents are still not ready to send their children to schools. However, teachers have requested the education board to hold the exams without any delay for this year.

Gobinda Kalita, general secretary of the Assam Madhyamik Shikshak Aru Karmachari Santha, stated, “We want the board exams on time, without much delay. Since much of the course has been reduced, we want the board exams to happen on time.”
