Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India has officially invited applicants for admission to the Biotech Industrial Training Programme (BITP) for the academic year 2020-21, under DBT-Skill Vigyan Biotech Industrial Training Programme (BITP) that is managed by the Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), which has declared its 2020 session.

The objective of the Programme 

The main objective of the Biotech Industrial Training Programme is to impart the biotechnology students into training them under the Biotech companies for six months. This scheme will help the students gain practical knowledge and experience of working on projects under the industry experts. 

However, it will also be an opportunity for the industry to identify the potential candidates to shortlist them. Also, the trainees will be given stipends during their training period.

Biotech Industrial Training Program Admission 2020: Eligibility Criteria 

A candidate must have B.Tech./ B. E/ M.Sc./ M.Tech./ MBA in General/ M.V.Sc in any relevant streams such as Environmental/ Agricultural/ Industrial/ Pharmaceutical/ Marine/ Medical/ Plant/ Food/ Animal Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology & Biotechnology/ Molecular & Human Genetics/ Bio-process Technology or Bioinformatics/ Neuro-Science/ Biochemical Engineering & Biotechnology, from a recognized Indian university with a minimum 50% marks or aggregate marks. 

Also, the candidates must have completed their respective degrees in the year 2018/ 2019/ 2020.

Biotech Industrial Training Program Admission 2020: Application Process

• Candidates can visit the website @www.biotech.co.in and apply online. 
• Details on how to fill the application form, payment of application fee, and uploading of documents are available on the website
• These requisitions are from the biotechnology & life sciences companies who are interested to provide hands-on training for six months to the eligible candidates. 
• Therefore, these companies will have to pay stipends to the trainees according to the apprenticeship norms in addition to stipends paid by DBT.
• The biotechnology & life sciences companies are required to register themselves on the www.apprenticeshipindia.org with the help of the Life Science Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC)
• Trainees will be appointed in companies subject to availability.

Biotech Industrial Training Program Admission 2020: Application Fee

Interested candidates who meet the eligibility requirements can pay the application fee of INR 500/-. This can be paid via the Demand Draft drawn in favor of ‘Biotech Consortium India Limited’, which is payable at New Delhi. 

Biotech Industrial Training Program Admission 2020: Selection Process 

Candidates will be selected based on the computer-based entrance test conducted by the authorities the said-examination is scheduled to be held on January 3, 2020, followed by an interview process. 

The computer-based entrance tests will be conducted in multiple cities/centers. However, the selection process would be subject to meet the eligibility requirements. Trainer companies will provide subject to availability.
