Delhi University is going to introduce BTech programs in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Electrical Engineering.
New Delhi: Delhi University is all set to introduce BTech programs in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Electrical Engineering. Moreover, Delhi University intends to commence two new five-year LLB courses in the upcoming academic year.
As per Delhi University, the selection of candidates for admission to the newly launched BTech program for the academic session 2023-25 will be done on the basis of marks secured in JEE Main exam. The detailed admission brochure and official notification will soon be released on the official university website at du.ac.in.
The approval provided by the DU Academic Council also includes the implementation of the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), despite initial opposition from some teachers. Delhi University's Academic Council has given its endorsement to introduce B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, as well as Electrical Engineering.
Furthermore, the council has also granted approval for the establishment of two new five-year LLB courses. In addition to this, the proposal to establish the Freedom and Partition Study Center at Delhi University has been approved. This center aims to conduct research on lesser-known heroes and events of the freedom movement that have not yet been documented in history.
An integral part of this research will involve the documentation of "oral history", capturing the firsthand accounts of individuals who experienced this tragedy during that era. The center will also explore the various challenges encountered in attaining independence from foreign rule, as well as the profound consequences of the geographical division of the country, encompassing physical, emotional, economic, and cultural losses endured by the people. In addition, the center will focus on studying different facets of the independence struggle and the causes and effects of the partition.
Delhi University to Establish the DU Tribal Studies Center
During the meeting of the University of Delhi's Academic Council, the establishment of the Tribal Studies Center received approval. This center will serve as a multi-disciplinary hub focusing on the study of various tribes in India.
The primary objectives of the center include gaining an Indo-centric understanding of the term "tribe," examining their social, cultural, linguistic, religious, economic, and environmental aspects, as well as exploring the roles and contributions of tribal leaders throughout different periods in India's history.
Furthermore, the center aims to bring attention to the often overlooked tribal heroes, investigate and document the diverse folk traditions prevalent among Indian tribes, and highlight the significance of tribal leaders in India's struggle for independence.
ITEP Program Gets Approval
The University of Delhi's Academic Council has granted approval for the implementation of the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) course, starting from the academic session of 2023-24. This program will serve as a pilot project and will span over a duration of four years.
The Vice-Chancellor assured that the introduction of ITEP will not affect any existing teacher education programs, and no courses will be discontinued. The course will be available to students who have completed their Senior Secondary education or its equivalent, adhering to the structure of school education outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 (5+3+3+4).
