DU UG ECA Round 1 2026 Key Details

The ECA supernumerary quota admits candidates on the strength of their performance in extra curricular activities alongside their CUET UG 2026 score. The CEM score is the deciding metric for allocation this year.

Particular Detail
Notification date August 13, 2026
Total supernumerary seats 1370
ECA categories 14
Merit basis Combined ECA Merit (CEM) score
CEM weightage 75 percent trials or certificates + 25 percent CUET UG
Official portal admission.uod.ac.in

How Is the CEM Score Calculated?

Under the ECA supernumerary quota, DU does not use a single subject-based cutoff. Instead, it prepares a Combined ECA Merit list for each category.

The trial performance or evaluated certificates carry 75 percent weightage. The remaining 25 percent is drawn from the candidate's CUET UG 2026 normalised score. The final CEM score is then used for Round 1 allocation.

DU ECA Quota Seat Matrix 2026

The 1,370 supernumerary seats are spread across 14 ECA activity categories. The table below summarises the broad categories that carry allotment this year.

ECA Category Group Included Activities
Music Indian vocal, Indian instrumental, Western vocal, Western instrumental
Dance Indian classical, Indian folk, Western dance
Theatre Stage acting and street theatre
Fine Arts Painting, sketching, sculpture, digital media
Literary Debate, quiz, creative writing

What Should Allotted Candidates Do Next?

Candidates who receive an allotment must complete three steps in order. The window to accept the seat, upload documents for verification, and pay the admission fee opens right after the allocation.

Colleges will verify the uploaded certificates and trial scorecards before confirming admission. Any mismatch in category, class, or activity may lead to cancellation, so read the college notice carefully before submitting.

How to Raise a Grievance on the ECA Allocation?

DU has already issued a separate advisory for NCC and NSS certificate evaluation grievances. Candidates who feel their CEM score is incorrect can log in to the CSAS portal and use the grievance tab within the stated window. The decision of the university on grievances is final.

Why This Matters

The ECA quota offers a rare route into flagship DU colleges beyond pure CUET rank. With 1,370 seats and 14 categories, a strong trial score can lift a mid-range CUET candidate into a top college in this round.
