FYJC Admission 2020 Expected to resume within this week; State Govt awaits SC orders

The state government of Maharashtra recently announced that the procedure for First Year Junior College (FYJC) Admission 2020 is expected to recommence this week. 

The Supreme Court had passed an interim stay on the Maratha quota, causing the admission process to halt midway.

According to an official from the education department, the seat matrix for admissions has already been decided. The admissions are all set to resume and only awaits clearance and instructions on when to continue the procedure. 

The state government is currently in the process of obtaining the clearances and expects that an announcement regarding continuation of the admission procedure will be made within this week.  

The FYJC admissions were halted after the Supreme Court issued an interim stay regarding the Maratha quota on 9th September.

This meant that the 12% reservation in admissions that was valid prior to the interim stay had been made inapplicable, forcing the admission process to come to an abnormal halt. 

The education department had announced that it will be issuing a revised time-table for the second round of admissions, however there had been no follow-up from them regarding the matter. Students across the state have expressed their concerns on the prolonged delay in admissions and have pleaded for the admission process to resume timely.
