Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021 has noticed a significant increase in the number of applications received this year. About 8,82,684 candidates have filled the GATE 2021 Application form.
This year, GATE 2021 has invited non-engineers and younger applicants to register for the 2021 examination. Hence, the number of applicants increased from 8.59 lakh applications obtained in the previous year.
GATE 2021 has also received about 14,196 applications for the subjects in Humanities, which have been introduced recently in the GATE 2021 Exam Pattern. However, a large number of applicants are women.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted by IIT Bombay for candidates seeking admission in various programs offered by colleges/universities of India.
The online application portal for GATE 2021 registration for eligible candidates was open from September 11, 2020, to October 14, 2020

IIT Bombay, conducting authority of the GATE 2021 exam has also noticed a slight difference in the number of women applicants this year. As compared with the previous year, the institute has received applications from about 10,000 more female candidates.
According to IIT Bombay, candidates who are in the 3rd year of their graduate degree are also eligible for the GATE 2021 examination. Additionally, the candidates having a background in humanities can also apply.
