November 03, 2020: The Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant has made an announcement about resuming physical classes for Class 10th and 12th students after reviewing current status. Classes 10th and 12th will begin from November 21, 2020.
Furthermore, Mr. Sawant clearly mentioned, government has not yet decided to resume physical classes for primary school students. He also added that the decision will be communicated across schools of the state.
An official statement issued, reads, “It has been decided that Classes 10th and 12th will resume from November 21 by following the SOP”.

Schools have not been functioning for over 7 months due to the nationwide lockdown to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In view of the pandemic, the Directorate of Education will be issuing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prior to restarting classes.
As per the announcement, Class 10th and 12th students will only be permitted to appear for Board Examination 2021, after completion of their practicals. The students are given the next three months to complete their practicals.
The meetings regarding reopening of schools were held with a panel of government officials, stakeholders in the education sectors, and the other necessary officials.
As per the MHA Unlock 5.0 guidelines issued in September, the schools could start functioning from October 15, 2020, however, each state was given the liberty on this matter. In addition to that, the guidelines also urged online classes.
Moreover, the guidelines stated that’ “If students preferred to stay at home and attend online classes, schools should permit them to do so.” Parental consent was made necessary for the students to attend the physical classes.
