Goa State Government to Conduct a Meeting on School Reopening

The Chief Minister of Goa has decided to reopen schools after consulting school management, parent-teacher associations and teachers.

The school reopen decision will take place only after taking consultation and preparing SOPs for teaching activities.

Pramod Sawant, the chief minister of Goa stated that teachers are not happy with the decision to reopen the schools and start physical class already.

They are concerned about the proper practising of the standard guidelines like social distancing and use of masks by the students especially kids.

The Chief Minister conducted a meeting with all the stakeholders including teachers and decided not to open the schools till October 14.

Teachers have put forward their concern and suggested that online classes is the best option right now considering the rising case of Covid-19.

The representative of the teacher's association said that online classes are the best option right now as most of the schools in the state do not have a good infrastructure to conduct classes while maintaining social distancing.

There is a common toilet facility for all the students in the schools and this will increase the spread of coronavirus infection.

Schools do not have thermal scanning guns to find out the infected students by measuring their body temperature.

However, the state government has made sure to provide all the necessary tools to help maintain all the SOPs. 

As per the ‘Unlock 5’ guidelines released by the central government, schools can be reopened from October 15, 2020 however, the state government can decide whether they want to reopen the schools or not.

Goa government has decided to open the school in phase wise.

First they want to open the schools for class 10, 11 and 12 followed by remaining classes.
