Odisha Government Allows Reopening Schools from Nov 16 for Classes 9-12

Bhubaneswar: The state government of Odisha decided to resume schools for the class 9-12, from November 16, 2020. The new guidelines for educational institutions in the state have been approved by Chief Secretary A.K. Tripathy.

As per the notification for Unlock-6, the state government has announced that all the schools of Odisha can start offline classes for class 9-12 from November 16, 2020.

The notification said that the classes of class 9th to 12th will open and run under the supervision of schools and the Mass Education Department. However, online classes and distance learning will be continued and will be promoted as the new age essential components of education.

School administration can call teachers and technical departments to conduct online classes from the schools.

For Higher Education institutions, as per the guidelines, colleges can conduct classes for Ph.D and PG students of science and technology which requires laboratory work.

Other authorities can conduct exams like Academic exams, Competitive and Entrance exams. 

COVID-19: Odisha issues Guidelines for Public Places

The notification, released by the S&ME Department, also has guidelines for other public places. For the places of worship, the local district authority can issue permission with appropriate reservations guidelines, the notification said.

In case of cinema theatres, swimming pools, auditoriums and halls, and other public gathering venues will remain closed.

For marriage functions, only 200 persons are permitted to attend with proper protection measures. For Funerals, only 50 people are allowed.

Large public gatherings, Except the meetings approved by the Election Commission of India for by-elections, are prohibited till the 30th of November. Meanwhile, International Flights will also be shut till November 30.
