Goa Government postponed reopening of schools amid Coronavirus outbreak

The Goa government on Wednesday has postponed its schedule of reopening the schools in the first week of June 2020.

The Goa government official said that the state government is keeping up with the fresh announcement made by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on May 30, 2020 which proposed that the centre will first come up with the guidelines after which the state governments can make their decision depending on the ground situation.

In the circular released by Director of Education Vandana Rao read that the department had earlier informed the schools about the reopening for the new academic year, which was supposed to begin from the first week of June 2020.

 However the new guidelines from the MHA in view of the COVID-19 situation, the schedule of reopening of the schools has been deferred by the state government.

The senior official mentioned that the new dates will be announced soon after holding discussions with the respective stakeholders as per the MHA’s guidelines.

The circular also mentioned that during this difficult time of lockdown due to coronavirus, the school administrations are hereby informed to support the students in every possible way by arranging online classes, solving their academic queries and by utilizing the best use of the technology.
