HC Directs DU to Provide Details of OBE Results Declaration Course Wise; Check Details Here

The Delhi High Court directed the Delhi University on Wednesday to provide details of the courses whose Open Book Examination (OBE) results have been announced and inform the court by when the pending results of the courses will be announced as the exams were held in August.

Justice Prathiba M Singh stated, “Delhi University shall file an affidavit within five days stating which are the courses whose results are declared and which are the courses whose results are not declared. Also mention when the remaining results would be declared.”

The Delhi High Court heard various students’ plea that their final year exam results, which were held in August, have not been released yet, and because of that, they are unable to enroll for higher studies.

The other concern raised by some students was that though they appeared in the exams, however, DU has marked them absent. Thus, regarding this matter, the high court asked the varsity to review this aspect and submit the affidavit by November 25, 2020.

The high court listed the matter for the next hearing on November 26, 2020, with a direction to Professor D S Rawat, Dean of Examination, to join the virtual video conferencing proceeding on the next date.

The judge also added, “Now we will have to monitor things again.” It also witnessed that the varsity has not submitted an affidavit as was directed earlier. It added, “There is non-compliance by the Delhi University. It is really shocking. It is happening every time.” 

Earlier, a division bench of the high court had directed the varsity to announce the results of all the post-graduate courses by October 31, 2020, and upload the Marksheets on the official website.

It had also fixed various deadlines for results declaration of undergraduate courses, from October 20, 2020, to October 31, 2020, with a buffer of a maximum of three days from the date finalized. The results were to be declared on November 6, 2020, for BA (prog) courses.

Initially, the petition was filed objecting to DU’s decision to conduct OBE final year exams in online mode, according to the UGC guidelines, for undergraduate courses.
