ICAI Unveils Global Management Development Program on World Accountants Day

Institute of Chartered Accountants of India launched the Global Management Development Program (GMDP): Leadership Beyond Boundaries on the occasion of World Accountants' Day.

The GMDP programme is in line with the Institute's efforts to improve knowledge and professional enrichment even in the midst of a pandemic. The programme received a massive response and a total of 75 participants from all over the world, including the countries of Singapore, Australia and the Middle East.

About the Programme

ICAI's first-ever Management Development Program focuses on providing a platform for learning, re-learning and upgrading 21st Century management and leadership skills.

The programme also focuses on developing inquisitive, predictive, descriptive, prescriptive and pre-emptive skills in finance professionals, which will help them improve their skills today and remain relevant for the future.

The program is being developed with the contribution of renowned CAs, Media Personalities, IIM / ISB / International Faculty and highly experienced Master Trainers. The GMDP was said to be the brainchild of ICAI Central Council Member CA Dayaniwas Sharma.

The Launch Ceremony

The Chief Guest of the Launch Ceremony was CA Keshav R. Murugesh, also known as 'Turnaround Turk' in the business world, Group CEO of WNS Global Services, a NYSE-listed business process management company.

He outlined the progress of the global financial environment and the changes in the role of Chartered Accountants and Finance Professionals. He also talked about the disruption that affected companies differently, requiring different thinking and skills, as well as efficient leadership qualities.

The GMDP launch ceremony also saw the presence of ICAI President CA Atul Kumar Gupta, who said that the programme would instil the competencies and skills deemed essential for success in the current environment.

With the pandemic presenting its challenges that have affected businesses and economic activities around the world in a low-touch manner, CA Kumar said something that has not happened in more than a hundred years. This has taught industry leaders to innovate, think out of the box and prepare for any kind of disruption, he added.
