At the IGNOU 38th Foundation Day, Mr Saxena commended the university's commitment to providing flexible, learner-centred, cost-effective, high-quality education to students.
New Delhi: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has organised the grand celebration event for its 38th Foundation Day at its Maidan Garhi headquarters in New Delhi. Vinai Kumar Saxena, Lieutenant Governor, Delhi attended the event as the Chief Guest.
On this occasion, a solemn floral tribute was given to the statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU in the presence of Pro-Vice Chancellors, School Directors, faculty members, and IGNOU fraternity.
“The Foundation Day celebration was a testament to IGNOU’s dedication to excellence and its pivotal role in shaping the future of education in India,” a statement from IGNOU said.

In a post on ‘X’ (earlier known as Twitter), Vinai Kumar Saxena said, “IGNOU stands tall, as a beacon of knowledge and academic excellence in the field of inclusive education and distance learning, delivering a flexible, learner-centric, cost-effective and high-quality education”.

At the IGNOU 38th Foundation Day, Mr Saxena commended the university's commitment to providing flexible, learner-centred, cost-effective, high-quality education to students.
He praised IGNOU for incorporating the National Education Policy 2020 in its courses and acknowledged its key role in democratising higher education and supporting the nation's desire to become the world's third-largest economy.
In an opening remark, Pro-VC IGNOU expressed sincere gratitude for Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena's presence on this occasion. He emphasised the honour of having such prominent dignitaries attending the Foundation Day Celebrations.
Prof. Nageshwar Rao, VC of IGNOU, thanked the Chief Guest for attending on this historic day. He further added that IGNOU created new programs that integrate vocational components and regional languages to cover Indian traditional knowledge.
