Rishikesh T Krishnan, the new director of IIM Bangalore (IIMB), is making efforts to promote social connection and learning online, even as students of the institute are eager to get back to normal classes.
“We would love to have our students back on campus. But, this will happen when the government announces that it is safe to do so,” said Krishnan, the newly-appointed director.
The director of IIM-B explained the short, medium and long-term changes planned at the institute in terms of operation and syllabus. Among the short-term changes, the priority of the institute is to offer the best possible educational experience through online classes.
The institute has upgraded its digital education infrastructure as well as the digital teaching skills of its faculty. “Classes are progressing smoothly,” said the director.
Regarding the medium-term changes, the institute is aiming to blend asynchronous courses designed for successful Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platforms with synchronous learning on digital platforms, with a view to offering an integrated digital learning experience.
Due to the pandemic, issues related to supply chain management, contingency planning, employee health and safety, as well as business continuity management have become a part of the curriculum of IIM-B.
