IIM Calcutta Introduces a Five-Day Management Course for Panchayat Members; Check Details Here

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) has introduced a unique initiative by launching a five-day management course specifically for panchayat members. The program is being conducted from September 20 to 24, 2023 on the IIM Campus. 

IIM Calcutta has taken a proactive approach to empower panchayat members through education and training. Pradip Kumar Mazumdar who is the Minister-in-charge for panchayats and rural development inaugurated the five-day training for sabhadhipatis and Saha sabhadhipatis, covering major issues like communication skills, women’s empowerment, local entrepreneurship, grassroots-level leadership, and negotiation.

Pradip Kumar Mazumdar added, “I am sure that with transparency, ability, and responsibility, the newly elected sabhadhipatis and saha sabhadhipatis of panchayat zila parishads in West Bengal will benefit immensely from this training program conducted by the professors of IIM Calcutta.”

Rajesh Bhattacharya and Bhaskar Chakrabarti from the public policy and management group of IIM Calcutta stated that the program will help to create a diverse change in the panchayats. 

They also mentioned that these programs enable the institute to fulfill its board of governors-approved strategic priority of blending global recognition with local relevance.

IIM Calcutta has consistently worked to create social impact. Recently the institute innovation park has collaborated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission to create a nurturing ecosystem at the grassroots. The training of the program would help to new initiatives at the panchayats.
