New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode will be organising the India Labour Conference 2024 on January 19-20, 2024. The conference will be hosted by the Centre for Employment Relations and Labour Study. 

The main focus of the conference conducted by IIMK will be on India including the multinational perspective or comparative perspective of India. The conference would be confined to Migration within India and would like to exclude international migration (immigration).

IIMK is inviting academicians, policymakers, trade union leaders, business leaders, managers, government bodies, and scholars to present their ideas, case studies and research papers on the following topics (not restricted to): academicians, policymakers, trade union leaders, business leaders, managers, government bodies, and scholars to present their ideas, case studies and research papers on the following topics (not restricted to):

  • Labour migration flows (permanent, temporary, circular and return)
  • How the COVID-19 pandemic has affected migrants in India?
  • What are the migrant strategies of adaptation?
  • What is the approach of trade unions to organize and represent migrants?
  • How do migrants respond to competitive labour market norms?
  • How does the migrant affect the labour market?
  • Migrant labour and their psychological contract
  • NGOs and their role in dealing with migration and migrant labour issues
  • Local government, labour office and the way they deal with migrant labour (labour administration)
  • Socio-economic and legal implications on families of migrant workers
  • Gender and migration
  • Wages of migrant labour
  • Social security of migrant labour
  • Law/compliance/ violation of labour laws applicable to migrant labour
  • Government, labour policy and migration
  • Employers and migrant labour
  • Labour standards, labour rights of migrant labour
  • Health, safety and working conditions of migrant labour

IIMK India Labour Conference 2024: Conference Fee

Here is a detailed breakup of the conference fee participants need to pay in order to submit their papers in the conference:

  1. a) Faculty and post-doc researchers: INR 6000 + 18 % GST 
  2. b) Ph.D./Retired Prof.: INR 2000 + 18 % GST 
  3. c) Industry Professionals: INR 8000 + 18 % GST 

Fees for the participants from abroad (Foreign Citizens) under above categories will be $75, $25 and $100 respectively (Note: Additional 18% GST will be applicable).

IIMK India Labour Conference 2024: Submission Details

Full paper 

The submissions are invited in the form of conceptual papers, literature reviews, policy papers, case studies etc. ranging from 6000-10000 words (including references). The manuscript must contain an abstract of 150-250 words and follow the APA referencing style. Log on to the following link for Paper Submission. 

Paper Publications and Awards 

The top 10 papers could be published in a reputed academic journal. Moreover, selected papers will be published in the form of an edited book by a reputed publisher. The conference would like to honour the researchers with the best paper award and a cash prize of Rs. 15,000.
