ndian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT GN) welcomed the new batch of BTech students with a Virtual Campus Tour on November 12, 2020.
As per the IIT-GN statement, a total of 242 students who have joined the batch of 2020-24 from 20 states across India, were welcomed with a Virtual IIT-GN campus tour. Apart from the virtual tour, IIT Gandhinagar had also begun flagship foundation programme in virtual mode.

During the interaction with the new batch of BTech students through live YouTube streaming, Director, IIT-GN, Sudhir K Jain spoke about the cultures and qualities of the institute, its faculty, the opportunity and experiences that IIT-GN offers.
He said that IIT-GN prepares the student's life, molds it, and equips with the skill-sets that are needed for a successful career. He added, apart from a positive attitude and commitment to work and studies, they must participate in extra-curricular activities conducted by the institute.

As per the IIT-GN, the new batch has an increased gender ratio with around 19% of female students taking admissions in various disciplines.
While the Dean of student affairs, Harish PM congratulated all the newly joined IITians for overcoming the hurdles and making into an IIT despite the exceptional situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.
