IIT Gandhinagar Held Digital Convocation Ceremony Amid COVID-19

In an attempt to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, several educational institutions have moved to virtual platforms from the offline mode. Likewise, IIT Gandhinagar this year conducted its 9th Convocation on the online platform.

Students Participated in the Digital Convocation 

A total of 455 students participated in the online Convocation Ceremony of IIT Gandhinagar. The bifurcation of these 455 is as follows:

Co-Founder of Infosys Limited and founding Chairman of the UIDAI, Nandan Nilekani graced the occasion with his presence and addressed the students, "It is a difficult time to graduate during this global pandemic. But your attitude and sense of optimism about the future will give you the confidence to continue and do what you have to do and we will all surely emerge from this predicament."

Nilekani also emphasized the continual improvement of technology and the diffusion of technology with society. He appreciated the online tools, smartphones, video conferencing, e-commerce due to which we all are able to manage life in unprecedented times and work without any disruption.

IIT Gandhinagar Director, Professor Sudhir K Jain also wished wisdom and courage to the students to make decisions and bear the consequences in the near future. 

Students were also awarded medals for excellence in academics, research, innovation, social services, sports, culture, and leadership categories. In total 56 medals were accorded, out of which 15 were gold, 15 were silver and 16 bronze.
