IIT Guwahati offers free Artificial Intelligence Course on NPTEL; Apply by September 21, Details here

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is offering a free course on Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the NPTEL e-learning platform. 

The prime aim of this course offered by IIT Guwahati is to summarize the principles and practices of AI to look into complex real-world problems. 

The course will create a basic understanding of problem-solving, reasoning, learning, and knowledge representation of AI. It is designed for professionals working in the Robotics Industry, Neuroscientists, Psychologists, Research scholars in AI. 

IIT Guwahati Course on Artificial Intelligence: Highlights 

The course duration is about 12 weeks and classes will commence from September 14, 2020, to December 4, 2020.

The students require giving a proctored exam on December 19, 2020. The last date to enrol for the course is September 21. The institute and NPTEL both will award the certificate.

The course implemented by IIT Guwahati keeps in mind the growing usage of AI in every industry. “What does automatic scheduling or autonomous driving have in common with web search, speech recognition, and machine translation? 

These complex real-world problems span across various practices of engineering! Aim of artificial intelligence (AI) is to tackle these problems with rigorous mathematical tools,” says IIT Guwahati.

Professor Shyamanta M Hazarika will head the course. He is a Professor at the Dept of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Guwahati. In addition, he acquired an MTech in Robotics from IIT Kanpur and a PhD from the School of Computing, University of Leeds, England.

His principal research interest areas include Rehabilitation Robotics, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning. This further translates into an interest in bio-mimetic prosthetics; cognition and cognitive vision.

This course comes under a Postgraduate Mechanical Engineering level course. However, anyone can apply in the course. The only requirement is that the applicant should know school level science and Basic Probability and Linear Algebra.
