National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) together launched a Rapid Visual Screening (RVS) Primer for developing a better understanding of structural safety for risks caused due to the earthquake.
The Rapid Visual Screening primer developed by IIIT Hyderabad and NMDA will be a new method to screen different kinds of the building's structure. It will also help to test the possible damage caused in the wake of the earthquake.
As per the official records, there are more than 30.5 Crores buildings in India. Before and after the earthquake, the structural status of buildings will give an effective checkpoint against the destruction caused by earthquakes for government institutions, private organizations, industries, and local companies.

According to the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the RVS Primer will help in a more mitigation-and preparedness-centric approach with an ongoing aim for a proactive, integrated, and central approach.
Prof Pradeep Ramancharla, IIITH, and the Project team head stated that around four out of five people living across the country are under a constant threat of earthquakes.
He added that focussed earthquake risk mitigation activities can significantly reduce risks because of the potential earthquake hazards including the construction of buildings, assessment and retrofitting of existing buildings, and compliance with design standards.
