IIT Madras Admission Open for January - April NPTEL Courses; Apply till Feb 19

New Delhi: The enrollment for the January - April 2024 semester of NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) - IIT Madras is now open. The deadline for enrollment in these certification courses is February 19, 2024. Interested learners can register via the provided links for the January 2024 Semester: NPTEL or SWAYAM.

 

The NPTEL offers a diverse range of 720 courses in engineering, science, humanities, and management. With over 2.5 crore learners enrolled uptil now, NPTEL aims to provide advanced learning opportunities to more than 30 lakh learners this semester. Registration is free on the SWAYAM and NPTEL portals, and participants have the option to take an optional certification exam for INR 1000.

Highlighting the importance of these courses, Prof. Andrew Thangaraj, NPTEL Coordinator at IIT Madras, expressed that NPTEL has enabled affordable, certified online education on a large scale, continuing to be a groundbreaking initiative under the Ministry of Education. The enhanced course selection will empower learners to enhance their skills and advance their career prospects. 

Building on the achievements of the previous semester, where 690 courses attracted over 6.75 lakh learners for center-based proctored exams, NPTEL has broadened its course offerings for the upcoming semester. As NPTEL reaches its 20th year of operation and 10th year of providing certifications, this semester signifies a significant milestone for India's largest online learning platform.

Karan Bhalla, a 'Domain Scholar' and Assistant Professor hailing from Ludhiana, expressed gratitude, stating that he appreciates NPTEL and the SWAYAM Portal for providing a platform that enables him and fellow learners to delve deeper into their respective domains. The invaluable aspect of these courses is the opportunity to learn from IIT professors, and as an educator myself, he passes on this knowledge to his students. 

The upcoming semester will introduce fresh courses in subjects such as Research Methodology for Planning and Architectural Studies, Computational Genomics, Structural Vibration, Applied Statistical Thermodynamics, Games and Information, and Experimental Robotics.

NPTEL Partners with ANSYS

NPTEL collaborates with ANSYS to provide specific courses, allowing learners to attain industry-recognized badges upon the successful completion of ANSYS innovation courses aligned with NPTEL's curriculum. Achieving top positions in NPTEL courses additionally grants learners the opportunity to earn ANSYS badges, which they can proudly display in their professional networks.

S.U Bhavana, an accomplished M.Sc student from Chennai recognized as an 'NPTEL Star,' shared that the completion of NPTEL courses has translated into tangible career advancements, improved performance, and heightened recognition. The practical knowledge acquired has proven invaluable in navigating complex work scenarios, making these courses instrumental to her professional success.

In 2023, over 66,000 faculty members from various educational institutes across India participated in NPTEL courses as part of their Faculty Development Program, contributing to the enhancement of teaching standards in colleges nationwide. Additionally, NPTEL facilitated 321 internships and placements for its top performers at IITs and other esteemed institutions last year.

Siddharth Acharya, another accomplished student recognized as an 'NPTEL Star' from Chennai, shared that securing an internship at Wells Fargo was made possible by aligning his NPTEL courses with those in his college, resulting in an improvement in his grades.

NPTEL extends fee waiver support through CSR partners, benefiting over 1.52+ lakh learners from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Meanwhile, NPTEL+ introduces a fresh portal with a flexible structure, providing self-paced courses and short-term programs delivered online. Unlike NPTEL's courses that align with academic semesters, featuring a curriculum with 30-40 hours of content per course, NPTEL+ is specifically crafted to complement and enhance this framework.
