IIT Madras Joins Hands With Pravartak Technologies to Offer Cricket Analytics Program; Check Details

New Delhi: In a joint effort, the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M), and GITAA, a company born out of IIT Madras' incubation, have teamed up to offef a cricket analytics program named 'Howzzat – Cricstats? Unveiling the world of Cricket Analytics.' 

As per the IIT Madras statement, the cricket analytics program is tailored for aspiring sports data analysts and enthusiasts of the sport. Spanning for a period of eight weeks, the program will be delivered in an online format. 

IIT Madras' Howzzat Cricstats Program 2023: Highlights 

Candidates who are intrigued by this opportunity can submit their applications on the official website: @digitalskills.pravartak.org.in.

The program fee is INR 10,000 + GST. Both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students, along with industry professionals with a passion for sports, are eligible to apply for this initiative.

This collaboration is established with the purpose of enabling participants to delve into the realm of sports data analytics through practical case studies. Industry experts will be engaged by the institutes to share their perspectives on how analytics has impacted sports, helping students grasp the foundational concepts of data science from distinguished academics.

Meticulously crafted by data science experts from IIT Madras, the cricket analytics course intends to equip budding sports data analysts and students with the proficiency to dissect vast datasets associated with various facets of the sport. The goal is to extract insights, make well-informed choices, and enhance both team and player performance.

Upon successful completion of the cricket analytics course, the institute will certify the participants with the certification from IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation and Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) of IIT Madras and GITAA. 

Speaking about the course, Professor Raghunathan Rengasamy, the Dean of Global Engagement at IIT Madras and a Co-Founder of GITAA, remarked that analytics assumes an important role across all dimensions of cricket, spanning from talent scouting and fan interaction to managing players off the field. There isn't a single facet of the game untouched by the influence of data science.
